What happened to Crossfire?
Just coverage of the manhunt of the students kidnapper in Madison, and Michael Jackson stuff.

1. They figured out they became irrelevant?
Who would waste time on them?

2. I dunno but some RW talk show host in Oregon had a
jihad going against Paul Begala and Crossfire on Monday. He kept playing and replaying the part of the show where Begala called Condi a liarm and giving out the Crossfire phone number--calling for Begala to be taken off the air.

I think it was someone named Victor.

3. Just think
If every right wing wacko with the courage to hide behind a microphone was fired for thinking condi (and bush) are not liars, the air would be a lot cleaner.

Crossfire is off today because of A VERY BAD PROGRAMMING DECISION BY CNN. They have to cover all breaking stories. And would someone please tell me how a story breaks?

4. I know it's great that she is found alive but come on!
It's not like she was missing for months. I guess that's cable for ya!

6. If it was a young black woman who was missing we'd never hear anything.
Like the Jessica Lynch "hero" coverage as opposed to the lack of coverage for Shoshana Jackson, who was actually held by the Iraqi army with guns pointed at her.

10. even all our local stations
are covering it. I'm glad she was found alive, but all they are doing are speculating what happened, trying to decide what law enforcement are thinking, trying to put together all these little shreds of information. In all actuality it is very disrespectful. The decent thing would be inform us she is found alive and then wait until a news conference or something. It was hard to watch cuz it was like when someone gets the microphone and no one can get it away from them. And this is how rumors start, they say all these things that probably are not true and then when all is said and done no one really knows what actually happened.

5. You saved me a post. I was just about to post a thread with...
... the exact same title.

This is by no means the first time I've tuned into Crossfire and heard absolutely no explanation why the show has been pre-empted. It's as if what we're watching is a regularly-scheduled news show. The "special report" we're seeing isn't exactly earth-shattering, though it is great news the missing student has been found alive and apparently in good shape. I wonder what the live audience at George Washington U is being told.

Do you remember when Crossfire was a full hour in prime time, and when there was no Tucker Carlson?

11. Sad to say, but
The ratings jump whenever they do this kind of coverage -- helicopters with infra-red and heat-sensitive cameras, SWAT guys suited up, trained dogs, on-call criminal profilers. All we need now is a car chase. I've e-mailed so many complaints to the cable news channels about this nonsense I've lost count. It's all about the ratings, ratings, ratings. Who am I to argue with what the greater public wants?!
