What if we, who have cable and STV, demand
from our providers that we prefer to have CBC or CNNI or other news cable services other than Atlanta CNN, CNBC, MSNBC and of course Faux? I am writing a letter in the morning to my satellite provider. I am going to tell them that I want a choice. Of course they will tell me that I can choose not to watch, but I want a choice to replace what I don't want to watch. What do you think? Anybody work for these guys, do you have any suggestions?

1. I'd love to have CBC and/or CNNI! (No, don't work for them, though.)

5. I think we have to start demanding what programming we want
to pay for. It will be the way back to sanity. Of course I wonder how much is already funded by the the Reich.

10. Thanks for the website. I have seen other similar arguments.
The fact is they can be selective, IMHO, and deliver to people what they want. They already do it with the adult channels. So what if you pay for fifty channels, I think you should be able to choose which fifty channels you want to pay for.

12. I do have a feeling
this will push smaller stations off the air.

MOst people don't care to watch solely political tv, and with distribution they don't get advertising. I also think channels like UPN will disappear.

14. UPN???
I haven't had UPN in seven years. It wasn't my choice but the provider's choice. So in my market it already disappeared. I am stuck with CNN and I would rather have another choice.

3. The fact that Dish has Free Speech TV helped me choose them.
Democracy Now is the only national TV news I watch.

11. Democracy Now is
a Pacifica radio show hosted by the courageous journalist Amy Goodman. A video version is shown on Free Speech TV (Channel 9415 on Dish) twice daily.

This was the only show that told the truth about Haiti. Amy Goodman was on the plane bringing Aristede back to Jamaica from CAR and did an incredible video interview of him. She is awesome.

13. Democracy Now!

http://www.democracynow.org/

The radio is carried by a number of stations, the TV over Dish Network and replayed on some local cable Public Access channels, and the audio. video and sometimes transcripts are available via the net.

You won't find a better short reprieve of the news than the few minutes ate the beginning of the show, and you won't find anything like the rest of it. Browse the archives to see what I mean.

*edit s!=a even if it passes spell check))

4. I would say you're goin' nowhere
The providers give their customers the networks that have the largest ratings, because it gives them appeal to the largest customer base.
You can request the "All Cats" network, but somebody at headquarters is going to chuckle at your request and throw it in the trash......I think.

7. I'm not asking for all cats.
The fact is I haven't asked for anything. I think it's time for the consumer to start asking for bang for their buck.
