9/11: An Insider Blows the Lid Off
Vice-President Dick Cheney (news - web sites) apparently didn't read Richard A. Clarke's new book before dismissing the former White House counterterrorism aide as being "out of the loop." If he had, Cheney might have attacked Clarke for something else -- anything else. But for being uninvolved? No. What's clear from the fascinating and highly detailed Against All Enemies: Inside America's War on Terror (Free Press; $27) is that Clarke has been a presence at all the anti-terrorism battles of the past 12 years.

2. This is a TERRIFIC Article
This paragraph is terrific. Clarke is Da Man!

"At the center of the web is Clarke himself, calling friends, calling in IOUs, and improvising in a contest with rules that aren't yet written, against opponents who remain mostly unknown. When the military said it couldn't protect the skies over the Olympics in Atlanta, Clarke put Secret Service snipers with .50-caliber rifles in Customs Service helicopters. He borrowed antisubmarine planes to watch for aircraft trying to crash into the site."

Sound familiar. Clarke knew planes could be used as weapons and was protecting the '96 Olympics from just such an attack!!

3. But..but..Clarke is an opportunist
I mean, how crass can you be--making money off this book during an election year. And the fact that Karen Huge or Kinda Sleazy Rice are coming out with books during an election year too is just a coincidence so don't you even think about comparing them to what Clarke has done.

6. Cheney calling Rush was very telling.
He couldn't find time to seriously address terrorist threats against America, but he can find time to talk on the radio when his ass fat is starting to sizzle on the fire of public awareness.

9. You can see what is happening...
as long as one of the parties in the admin who have made conflicting statements doesn't testify (under oath), they can never be charged with perjury. The one who is not under oath can change their story to match the other. Condi Rice went to all the talk shows and said the same thing over and over (after going to the commission and trying to change the 'tone' of one of her statements) so when she testifies her statements will seem consistent.
