Where do people get that Hilary is left wing?
Listening to her on OFranken right now...and I'll say it again. I honestly think she was the right winger behind Clinton's centrism. She was, after all, a Goldwater girl. And now she's flying the flag in favor of the war - coming acrosss like Lieberman.

1. That's not the impression I got
Edited on Thu Apr-01-04 03:00 PM by lancdem
Did we listen to the same show? She was anti-Bush from start to finish. I heard her criticize him on the war.

3. She's anti-Bush but so was Lieberman
She kind of criticized the war, but there was no remorse for voting for the IWR. Kerry, on the other hand, has flat out said the vote was a mistake.

Then again, Kerry is a liberal.

15. I never heard....
Kerry saying that his vote for war was a MISTAKE. When did he say that?

22. He said his mistake was in trusting Bush
Regarding the intelligence he was presented. He said Bush lied, and one can extrapolate that his vote was a mistake, but an honest one given the lies he was told.

Let's just say I told you there was a man at the door, he had a gun, and he wants to kill you. I show you a picture of the man with a gun - so you take him out first. Whoops! He was just a Jehova's Witness. My bad.

That was basically the position Kerry was in. And he admits his vote was a mistake. It was in 'politicalese' but it was there.

2. Sorry, I wouldn't compare her to Lieberman
Edited on Thu Apr-01-04 03:05 PM by supernova
I was against the war, but the fact is we are there now and we have to do a good job. to the extent we can, not let the place slide into civil war and leave it with a functioning civil government. I do believe Hillary is also on that page.

18. Yeah I'm correcting myself
I made an overbroad comparison of Hilary to Lieberman, and a more apropos comparison would be Dianne Feinstein to Hilary.

5. Did you listen to the whole interview?
I took her comments on the war more along the vein of "we're there, and we owe our service members the best." Did you hear the stuff before that? Pure liberalism.

6. Please cite examples
Since I was hearing some pandering comments (given her audience) but nothing that I would describe as 'liberal'.

7. You are so right.
Hillary's new found liberalism is a sham. She has always had rather conservative views on things. She never complained about any thing her Husband did for eight years; she even gloated on Larry King that Clinton had cut poor people off welfare. Might as well cut their throats too Mizzes Clinton.

She is pro-death penalty, anti-welfare, pro prison, pro drug war, pro censorship of rock lyrics, pro WTO--IMF--NAFTA--GATT, Supported normalized relations with the evil China, Supports war on terror, military budget raise, capitalism, she is against single payer health, she is pro cop, pro sprawl, pro corporate welfare, supported the nazi like Clinton crime bill and the equally un-democratic Telecommunications Act Of 96.

She is no liberal. Franken is confused.

And no, Al, Clinton did NOT create 28 million new jobs. Most of those are temp jobs, or low wage jobs. That shit don't count.

But still, anyone but Bush. lol.

10. I'll give you most of that but Clinton did create new jobs
...in the tech sector. The Clinton/Gore presidency poured millions into R&D which means tech jobs. True, there were no manufacturing jobs (unless you consider building a chalupa manufacturing.) But he did create tech jobs.

Kerry, however, is going to ROCK!

He's not "confused." BTW, I take it you didn't hear the interview.

And you obviously know nothing about Clintn's economic record.

17. that's right , bash one of the most influential
women we have in the senate. i was not a hillary fan but she's truly grown in office and i'm actually proud to have her represent my state.since bush has become president i marvel at people who speak coherently and manage not to slam their religion down my throat.

we've got to present a more united front until after the election. let's concentrate on the white house.

27. No I call Hilary a Conservative Democrat because
-She did, and still does support the IWR
-Her unwavering support for Israel
-Her unwavering support for the drug war
-Her answer to economic problems (very Classical, as opposed to Kerry and co Keynesian approach)
-Her unwavering support for NAFTA (even Lieberman agrees it needs changes.)

or its whether she's a woman. They hate Feinstein too, and she would be Republican in any other state.

23. The RW hates Hillary
because she doesn't define herself through Bill. She has her own goals and objectives. She articulates and works for them. She is responsible for things she says in public.

RW people hate that. They hate you when you don't indentify with the white males in power.

28. Bill doesn't have a voting record
He was never in Congress or the Senate. :)

I'll bet if you checked over the last three years, Kerry and Hillary voted the same 90-some percent of the time.
