Some Musings…
I did not know what it meant to be a Liberal until Reagan took office. Up until that time, I simply had certain views of the world and human condition which I later learned were “progressive” and “liberal.” Not only did I learn I was a Liberal, but I also learned that it was a “bad” thing. This realization came when I first heard Rush on the radio. I was so outraged at his diatribe and his cruel comments…such as referring to people that had died as “achieving room temperature.” I didn’t know at the time why it outraged me so…it just pissed me off.
When George W. Bush took office, I supported him because he was now our president. No, I didn’t vote for him…in fact, I remember thinking at the time that he was an empty suit. But because I love my country and I want the very best for its people, I set aside my political passions in hope that Mr. Bush would do well for our country. I would never hope for any president’s failure regardless of their political party. But my worst fears have come true. Mr. Bush is a complete and total failure…by far, the worst president in my lifetime and perhaps in history.
I recently made my own bumper sticker. It reads: “So, I suppose the whole Monica thing seems pretty tame right about now.”
What happened to my country? Was I sleeping? Was there a coup? Did a revolution happen while I went about my daily tasks? What the hell happened!?
Any single corrupt act by the Bush administration, by itself, would be enough to cause me deep concern. Yet, their “bonehead actions” seems to have no end. Everyday there is yet another revelation about these people and the continued dismantling of our country. Let’s review:
Questionable Election: There is a damn good chance that these people weren’t even elected!
Vacation/Other Weirdness: So Mr. Bush takes the longest vacation in the history of the presidency, right before 9/11. He admits that he does not follow the news but uses his close advisors in assisting him with daily tasks.
Frontline: So, did anyone see the Frontline program a while back (I believe it was called “The Bush Doctrine”) on how Bush was handpicked by (what we now call neo-cons) a conservative element to be president? Apparently, the whole idea of invading Iraq was hatched a long time ago. Also, more indication that Bush is largely a mouthpiece for the conservative right.
School/AWOL/Business Dealings: Okay, so he was a “C” student. Apparently he is sort of proud of that “everyman” – “awe shucks” sort of character. It worked for a while…but I think it’s starting to wear thin. Let’s see….He can’t remember a single individual that could verify his presence at the Air National Guard….NOT A SINGLE PERSON! And, of course, he couldn’t find any oil in Texas…in TEXAS, mind you!
I'll continue this later...(not that it is that interesting).
