Are you hearing talk about Air America
Edited on Fri Apr-02-04 04:59 PM by GreenPartyVoter
around the water cooler, in the checkout line, in your fave bar?

In other words, is it reaching folks OTHER than diehard political folk like ourselves?

3. Sue Ellicott
on Morning Sedition?

She's been on NPR's Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me! I'm glad she's on her own show now.

2. It was on Nightline last night
Ted Koppel did the entire show on it and the concept of "Liberal Radio." Al Franken was on, but of course there was also a Coulter-like neocon witch who did her best to tear down Franken.

15. It's interesting that when they present a RW talking point...
...they let them do so unopposed. But when "the left" or even the "sensible center" wish to express themselves, they have to share the stage with some RW stooge that shouts over them...

All the networks do it. Perhaps it scares them that Air America won't...

4. Haven't heard anything around the watercooler, but I have been
leaving it on at work all day since the beginning.

As an aside, is it just me or do you have to turn the volume WAY DOWN for commercials because you have to crank it UP to hear the show?

The show needs to buffer the commercial levels or something, it's quite annoying, in a I wish that was my biggest concern kinda way.

8. Its a Hit in Canada!
And it one way we can legally & financially support the next election. I love it -- can't turn if off, and I really must because I haven't fed the furdotters (dogs) for 3 days.

9. I've listened to it at work, too, a bit
But I don't have earphones like my co-worker, who was able to listen to it all day. She loves it, and I'm excited so far, too!

7. Not really, but
I am pleased to say that my Mom, who lives in Columbia, SC (not a bastion for open minded thinking - though it is the place of my birth... I digress) said that Air America was getting press in Columbia and that she wanted to listen to it badly (I had to send her a link to stream it over the 'Net).

Folks, there's hope if we're getting that kind of publicity. :)

11. in a way
I was at a barbeque with my roommate, and I was talking to her about Franken's show, and we suddenly had the rapt attention of everyone present wanting to know more.

Pretty good for a small town in a big red state :-)

13. never heard Randi before. She's great.
Her yelling at Nader was like finally scratching an itch that has been driving me nuts for three years. Relief! Also, loved her description of the devolution going on in the Bush family -- how succeeding generation's eyes are getting closer and closer together, until one day they will all be cyclops.

17. Agreed
Based on the number of trolls I've seen posting here in the last 24 hrs they must be really worried. Lots of talk about how the idea of a liberal talk radio station just won't work. Pleeze...so far I love what I've heard and I can't wait to hear Franken's show.

21. Here's what some dittohead had to say on our radio board
http://www.hawaiiradiotv.com/forum/simpleforum.cgi?fid=02&topic_id=1080933729

LeftOfCenter is actually me, KamaAina. EwaBeachEric is, apparently, actually Bob Boudelang. Let's hear what he has to say:

After 40 years of actually practicing socialism (and failing), does the State of Hawaii REALLY need to unleash the unabashed preaching of socialism on our airwaves. Before inundating local listeners with "Let's spend more on this and that", "Taxes are cool, let's raise them", "Bush is mean and a liar", and "Republicans and business are evil", I suggest that we detoxify our electorate for awhile. Further, as for stricly business considerations, I'm certain that any local radio station/group which entertains the thought that this far left-of-center Air America will float their boats with ratings and $$ would be seriously kidding itself. As if there aren't ENOUGH layoffs in the local radio industry already.

"Taxes are cool, let's raise them". I think I could go places with that, in a wickedly satirical kind of way...

16. Is there a plan to attract more listeners?
Edited on Fri Apr-02-04 06:13 PM by tilsammans
Air America’s launch got a lot of media attention. But I’m concerned about whether they have any plan (such as TV ads) about how to bring more listeners on board over the long term -- especially those “undecided” types. Does such a plan exist? I hope so!

19. I am telling anyone and everyone...
I think that whatever press they get about it is great...like last night on nightline...although they had to rightwing shills against Al...but I think Al handled them well...

Any news is good news...so I say let them keep talking about it...good or bad it will capture peoples attention...

23. Got in a car with a co-worker and he had it on.
I looked at him and said, "Wow, you listening to Air America too?"

We both got big grins like we were freedom fighters who had found each other behind enemy lines.
