and the woman in line in front of me asked for help looking for a book written by "some woman named Hugh". She didn't even know her name, but by golly, she had her marching orders to read the book.

35. Here's a simple question I wished Tim the Tool would have asked:
Hughes: The White House has given "unprecedented" support...blah...blah...blah...

Tim the Tool: What do you mean by "unprecedented".

---

She said that 3 or more times as if the word "unprecedented"
erased all the stonewalling for months.

See, it's simple intelligent things that our reporters need to
ask to sift through the bullshit. It's called follow-up. Tim
forgets this when he has a Bush apologist on the screen but
with Dean it was a "No, No, No, No" sort of grilling.

And yet, the media is "liberal".

Funnily enough, this meme resurfaced that the media is "liberal"
on Matthew's this morning. And Matthews supported the notion because our sitcoms are socially forward (albeit offensive
to some), the media is "liberal". How about we stop interchanging
sitcoms with news, huh?

Sheesh.

11. "a misplaced sense of responsibility" - Sez It All
Edited on Sun Apr-04-04 09:29 AM by UTUSN
She said this about CLARKE's apology to the 9-11 families. Then she went on to absolve all the Shrubbites, saying nobody could have done anything to prevent it, with "and I'm no advocate for the CLINTON Administration, but" (them, too). Everything in the Shrubbites has been "Anything But CLINTON", and "Blame CLINTON," and now "Cover with CLINTON".

KEAN squirmed about why Shrub can't testify without CHEENEE while GORE and CLINTON are testifying independently. As for Shrub-CHEENEE testifying in secret, it's so we unwashed can't see KEAN and the kids KISSING UP and TOSSING SOFTBALLS. Plus, the report is going to be VETTED by the Shrubbites, with no guarantee that it will be released by them before Election Day.

On Edit: Oh, this is a quote from a wingnut token acquaintance who has insider wingnut contacts, replying to my comments about HUGHES's returning because ROVE might be indicted: "Frankly, I hadn't thought of the Rove indicted angle. I think she's coming back because she thinks and writes just like Bush, she understands him, and they need the help. You saw the story about the FBI translator who swears there WAS specific warning about planes BEFORE 9/11? The government is invoking the rarely-used state secret law to silence her."

17. My letter to MTP .... I thought my head would explode listening to her
Edited on Sun Apr-04-04 09:11 AM by SayitAintSo

Lies, Lies, and more Lies.... WHY does Tim Russert not call Hughes on her obvious lies and spin? WHY ? He lets her go on. At least Chris Matthews, an equal opportunity bastard, would cry bullsh_t on this tripe. Timmy continues to throw softballs and not follow up on such obvious LIES as " the president supported this commission....yada yada yada...." . His pattern of treating this administration with such deference is so obvious compared to the scathing treatment other administrations have gotten for lesser concerns. A pity .... you guys astound me ...

26. thanks for the mtp e-mail address
i just sent 'em this:

And he did *nothing*.......

When Karen Hughes says "there was no way we could've envisioned it (re: 9/11), normally, a credible journalist would follow that up by reporting on the facts we know, when they happen to directly contradict statements such as Hughes made...... Tim Russert simply moved on.

What a sham of an interview. Thankfully though, America got to see a little bit deeper into the inner workings of the Bush administration, where advisors go on record before a national audience with no reservations about saying something to the effect that dead bodies (in coffins) on political commercials are "tasteful."

Justin Coen

Parkersburg, WV

i am absolutely pissed at the effrontery of this bitch, and the other bitch russert letting her lie to the camera with no follow-ups.

i'm not tryin' to be funny really, that shit really was unnerving.... i had to go back to the computer and just listen to it. i can't see that shit again

:scared:

and i don't know why i maybe expected russert to play hardball, and actually follow up..... when that bitch says there's no way we could've conceived of 9/11 happening, say 'au contraire,' and nail that lying bitch with the facts.

nice to know she thinks the dead body in the bush commercials was "tasteful." confirms pretty much everything i already thought anyway....

28. Span...I Can't Hide From This Evil...
Yep...letsee, saw her on the Daily Show, Letterman, numerous fluff pieces on Crowley News Network (talk about Wide Screen)...I'd hate to think of the shrine they built for her on Faux.

This lady is willing to manipulate her own family for this regime. Totally disengenuous. She can't find a thing wrong with blunder boy? Yeah, right.

How ironic, this human trash compactor is part of a regime screaming about those with "access" who are cashing in with books...like Clarke & O'Neil, but wants the media to roll over and play dead when it comes to her piece of bird cage liner.

Now if she wrote a book about how Poppy and Babs hired her to babysit junior and all the times she walked in while he was drunk and coked up...now that'd be a nice read.

Edited on Sun Apr-04-04 09:50 AM by Jim4Wes
Of course the maladministraion thinks the commission is important, because they still have to protect us. Getting to the truth is important blah blah

Than a couple minutes later, She disagreed with the Chairman and Vice Chairman who were on the show just before her, becuase she just does not see how anything could have been done to prevent 9/11.

:wtf:

What good is the commission then?

33. Clip of KH on 9/11 reminded me * still was scampering...
... from hidey-hole to hidey-hole after the sun had set.

Russert showed a clip of Hughes as the first WH spokesperson to go on TV, the EVENING of 9/11/01. Where was the "President"? The attacks had occurred first thing in the morning.

The 9-11 Commission should subpoena Karen Hughes to explain in exquisite detail just who authorized her to go on the air first, and exactly how that conversation went. Maybe world financial markets would not have panicked so abjectly if the "President" had at least SEEMED to be in control of the situation hours earlier.
