Too many have equated "jihad" to strictly mean combat.

Another thing: Islam does not permit the killing of innocents- non-combatants, kids, etc. It also prohibits suicide for any reason. Think about that folks the next time you hear that Islam encourages suicide bombing. That is wrong, it is an innovation and a sin.

A basic appeal to religiosity. Imagine Jerry Falwell, and every other religious leader inciting hatred against a certain group (like homosexuals). Only this time giving it a religious edict. Almost like a grant from God for forgiveness of sins/blessings in this life and the life afterward, etc. People don't understand what this can mean to the mindless religious people. In some ways christians have moved beyond this form of fanaticism, so it's hard for us to imagine what this can mean.

Look at images of Muslims beating themselves with chains in rememberance of a RELATIVE of Muhammed their prophet's death, this should give you a VERY BASIC idea of the . . . I can't find a word for how basic and almost cave-man like the belief system is.

As far as snake handlers, they pose nowhere near the danger that aggressive fundamentalists do.

I in no way support fundamental religion. Christians confuse and annoy me, Muslims outright FRIGHTEN me.
