A stern warning to America, (quotes from Abbie Hoffman)
"P.S. On second thoughts ..... maybe I was wrong. You know, I'm really sorry and I want to come home. I love the flag. Blue for truth. White for right. Red for the blood of our boys shed in war. I was wrong to tell kids to kill their parents. It was the children's fault. Spoiled, selfish brats made the sixties ....
Once I burned money at the stock exchange. This was way out of line. People work hard for their money. Even stockbrokers work hard. No one works hard in Bangladesh -- that's why they are starving today and we are not. With inflation, everyone works extra hard for their money. It's not our fault or the fault of our government. If anyone's to blame it's the Arabs and those knee-jerking Europeans who cozy up to them by paying their price for oil. ... We should starve the world to get our way ....
...I've grown up, too. You know how it is when you are young and not in control. I'd like to go back to school and learn how to be a credit to the community. I've always had an itch to become a certified public accountant .... Maybe I could sponsor some disease that needs a personality, something like hemorrhoids. If a judge sentenced Keith Richards to sing for the blind, because he fooled with coke, I'm willing to sing to the deaf for punishment. ... I promise not to put anything in my nose again. Not even my finger...

1. People in Bangledesh don't work hard......

Huh? What a putz. Yeah, the Bangledeshis just need to get over their malnutrition and get with the program.

How is this a "stern warning" to America? I mean, I'm missing the point you're trying to make by posting this. My bad, I'm sure.

6. No, no, it's my fault
after reading about Iraq and oil and people cutting off a foot of hair and cutting off a hairy foot and the simpsons as religion .... I just get carried away, and get out my books by old white right wingers like Hoffman. He was always up there with Pat Boone for me. These guys are right --- Hoffman has no place on a format like this.

5. I'd bet it's Hoffman making fun of his old partner-turned-yuppy..
Jerry Rubin. Remember "Growing Up at Thirty-Seven"?

9. I remember a debate between Hoffman and Rubin
in college called "Yippie vs. Yuppie" - it was shortly before Hoffman "committed suicide".

By the way, does anyone know if Abbie's suicide was ever proven to be of his own hand?

10. I saw one of his kids.
He said that Abbie had called some friends less than 24 hours before his death, and said he had "the proof" needed to blow the Iran-contra scandal open. I know that Abbie saw the elder bush as the head of the operation. I'd seen him not long before his death. He was in a great mood.

11. Very sad, another name to
go on the Bush Body Count list. God, I hate that family (BFEE) more and more every day.

12. Yeah that sounds about right
Hoffman was a good guy. It was sad to learn of his suicide. At the time a friend of mine was working with him in eastern PA. They were organizing against waste management, inc. He was in the fight up to the very end. He was a true believer.
