NBC just now: Bush numbers up, Kerry down?
NBC nightly just ran this piece about how Kerry's time off hurt him as he missed opportunities to capitalize on Bush's current trouble (which I agree with) but THEN went on to say that Bush's approval ratings have gone UP in the last two weeks while Kerrys have gone DOWN...

...now, I just saw all these threads on DU about how Kerry's numbers were up, and one that said if the election was held today, Kerry would win.

So what's the deal? Just NBC being bastards or are these other numbers overly optimistic?

10. Can't be good for Bush
Can;t believe I already found another democrat from AZ - we are truly a rare breed.

I have a friend who thinks Bush is going to get whupped in November because he has so obviously lied, screwed the working man, etc - we call this man an incurable optimist.

The truth is that everybody has now heard that Dubya went after Iraq for no good reason and they still support him. If we bombed another sovereign nation tonight, like France for instance, the majority of Americans would support it if Fox ran a banner saying "America Fights for Democracy!" - we have become a nation of paranoid idiots and we are getting the government we deserve.

17. and if such a tough talking guy like Bush said we should invade
China or North Korea, indeed the stupid people of the US, enjoying their fatness and their laziness and their uneducation, will say OK--we need to do that because we can! And we are the greatest!

20. You mean like the CBS poll that has * w/ a 39% favorability rating?
Edited on Sun Apr-04-04 07:33 PM by alcuno
Hahahahahahaha.

http://www.pollingreport.com/BushFav.htm

In the same poll, Kerry's unfavorability is 29% compared to * who is at 42%. * is winning that one.

5. If they are going to steal the election they have to report that the chimp
is ahead. That is a sign for me that the fix is in. If Bush gets good reports that he doesn't deserve were screwed.

7. America - Home of the Stupid
The Bush latest 4 point lead is due to the way they have effectively painted Kerry as a Liberal. Kerry took vacation, while the Bush machine was busy defining Kerry as a Liberal. And you know how "true" dumb ass, I don't read anything, Americans can be made to believe the latest 30 second commercial put out by Bush. So while the BUSH machine has been pounding away on Kerry, he takes a vacation and then disappears for a couple of weeks for surgery. I want my money back. Bush is on the ropes and Kerry goes back to his corner. Does anyone in this party know how to fight? Kerry's negatives have gone up drastically in the last 2 weeks.

13. Looks like
the numbers are going back to where they were a week before. Two polls show Kerry back in the lead: LA Times and the CBS poll.

Granted, I haven't really seen any polls that show either with a lead greater than the margin of error, so I still say it's a dead heat.

14. Polls- who cares,
its the swing states that matter. What is happening with the numbers in the swing states?

Bush could be a second term popular vote loser, electoral college winner.

16. Reporting on polls influence how people feel, esp. in swing states
That's why I matters. Politics is not based on reality, but the perception of reality. :)

19. I stand corrected,
like the perception that Bush has a brain? The guy is on vacation when warned about 9/11 and in kindergarten when it happens. And Americans love him because he is a good guy.

21. Selwynn, where are the threads about Kerry winning?
I couldn't find them. BTW, could NBC be referring to state polls like the one in PA and the one in Wisconsin that showed Bush gaining a bit? The last tow national polls have Kerry ahead by 3 and 5.

22. Just more propaganda
the polls will probably report the pre-determined Diebold election results.

Unfortunately, we may get stuck with a Repig government next January, but when Iraq and the economy and the environmental problems all collapse at once in 06 or so, the shit will finally hit the fan and we may see a complete overhaul of the government.

Just MHO,
