Way to Victory: NO Recall/Bustamante!
Lt. Governor Cruz Bustamante is the perfect candidate for the Democratic Party on the recall ballot. He is standing AGAINST the right-wing recall, while foiling their plans to usurp power through a fundamentally unfair election, in which Davis must win a majority, but, failing that, a similar burden does not fall on the recall candidates.

With "pro-sodomy, pro-abortion" "liberal Republican" Arnie in the race, we certainly can win. The GOP conservatives WILL NOT accept Schwarzenegger, nor should they if their goal is furthering their causes, for he is no conservative. But he also a crass opportunist working at the behest of the Republican coup plotters, and he and the rest must be defeated.

Cruz Bustamante has the appeal as a statesman, friend of labor, as a Latino and central valley figure, to come out on top IF NEED BE. We still must say "NO!" to the recall. But we also must say yes to the Lieutenant Governor!

We will win! We must, however, maintain unity!

3. I'm sorry?
It was perhaps too casual, but what's wrong politically with saying "No Recall/Vote Bustamante"?

5. On the one hand...DONT ALLOW THE RECALL TO PASS
but just IN CASE you're not able to arrive at a proper decision, or if there aren't enough Dem voters motivated to go to the polls, or Repukes try to disenfranchise the poor, or otherwise restrict voters from getting to their NO votes....THEN we've got an out for you...just in case!

Politically speaking, that's got to be the biggest indictment of Davis.

7. ...our problem now
is that Bustamante indeed will run. It's important that he pledge not to run for re-election if he becomes governor. I think he is doing this in the wrong way. But I think since no one is going to allow for no Democratic candidate to appear on that ballot, we should unite on one.

Yes, it's an indictment of Davis in one sense, but why need we say that? He's not made many friends with his style of work. But still we must defeat the recall. Maybe I've been suckered, but my #1 objective is to make sure the GOP does not usurp the governor's office. My #2 objective is to defend Davis.

2. I honestly think
That Leon Panetta is a better choice

Presided over OMB and we had record surpluses

"He know how to manage a budget" He has strong credentials is not seen as a Crony of Gray's and could take it on on solely as a caretaker. He could chose not to campaign at all thus not having to go negative on either Gray or the repukes...Gray will do that anyway.

He could immediately resign and Cruz could succeed him

Or he could wait around as caretaker until he gets tapped next year as someone's choice for VP.

4. Panetta
I don't know about having a Californian on the ballot in 2004. I think it will still be very safely Democratic. I like Leon but I think we will use the V-P slot to try to win a Florida or other southern state that is winable (LA, AR, GA) or Penn or simmilar swing state. Even if a moderate Republican wins in the recall I don't see California going Republican nationally. I do think he would be a very good choice for governor, but at this time (2:00 central) the word is that Cruz will announce tommorow, after the Arnold announcment.
