Maybe We Are Overlooking the Obvious?
We see this misadventure in Iraq as some grand power movement to fulfill Bush’s plan for American hegemony. What if that were not the goal?

Is it totally out of the realm of possibility that the goal is really the acceleration of demise of all FDR programs and the American middle-class?

We know that the conservatives want nothing more than to return wealth to its position of the ruling class. We also know that they are attempting to bankrupt the country so that the social programs of FDR cannot be continued.

A series of costly misadventures work well into a strategy of bankrupting the country. Just a thought.

Its definitely part of the plan. Read anything written by Grover Norquist.

6. yes!
they are all about destroying the remnants of the welfare state. since the programs of the 1940's-1960's to the hiked income taxes on the rich 50 years ago, these unfeeling bozos have had a sense of entitlement and a gross lack of compassion.

5. I've read that Iraq was basically a weapons testing zone for the US
.
.
.

I know it couldn't be the ONLY reason, but how else can they test all those mega-million dollar killing toys if they don't have a war?

I got this idea from reading some russian bloggers and forums, and ya know what? - I think it makes alot of sense, - -

I mean, Georgy-boy is having the killing spree of his lifetime (his career as the "Texacutioner" was mild by comparison) with all his new toys, fuly paid for by the taxpayers, and he can siphon off a billion or two for his buddies.

And consider this

- if the USA had REAL democracy,

Junior wouldn't be anywhere NEAR the Whitehouse.

That 2-party system works very well for Korprate Murikkka!

7. I agree that its part of the bigger picture
they think this move is killing two birds with one stone. Its just icing on Bushs cake. There are more than a few reasons why he wanted this war/

Revenge for Daddy

Oil grab

Kill the social programs by bankrupting the country

Make his corporate donors wealthy in the process, military contractors love dropping bombs so they can make more and then they get to rebuild Iraq. They are getting filthy rich over this. Both the weapons manufacturers and the Halliburtons who make money on rebuilding

8. Right...it's a distraction from things like the economy
and the destruction of the New Deal, it's a wedge/patriot issue to alienate certain voters, and it's a money maker for folks like Halliburton and Shell.
