In Illinois, GOP Needs Plan If Ryan Drops Out
Illinois state law "doesn't cover how to replace Senate candidate dropouts," the Daily Herald reports. "The buzz among Republican insiders is several party leaders have spoken to U.S. Senate nominee Jack Ryan and asked him to get his divorce file situation straightened out sooner rather than later."
http://www.dailyherald.com/search/main_story.asp?intID=3808251

If the documents about Ryan's divorce settlement "are released and the information proves fatal to Ryan's campaign, election law makes no specific provision for who appoints a new Republican U.S. Senate candidate." (See the AP for more on Ryan's effort to block the documents.)http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/news/local/states/california/the_valley/8305962.htm

"The odds are the state central committee would get to pick a successor, but given the unpredictability and split among the state's GOP, a lawsuit could be filed to block that."

Update: Rick Hasen notes the article "does not mention one of the trickiest issues related to this question."

2. the Illinois GOP
They could nominate a moderate pro-choice Republican woman such as Corinne Wood and win, but they never will, because they are corrupt, misogynist, ignorant pig-men.

3. resistance is futile
He was married to a Borg. Maybe that is what they want to keep secret. :)

I feel pretty confident Obama will win no matter who his opponent is.

8. you got that right...and in a BIG way-
we've dabbled in "the lifestyle", and it can be a very fun time- but forcing someone into it just isn't cool.

5. The RUMORS I heard
only rumors, mind you, involved him forcing his wife into group sex and rape allegations, which any forced sex would fall under, I believe. I heard some pundit mention that if half the rumors out there are true Ryan is a dead man walking.
