That's It! I Am Now Officially DONE with CNN........
Like an addict needing a fix, I turned on CNN and saw Chimpy giving a speech in Arkansas. He was babbling a love and the economy. Then, talking about corporate fraud he held back as if wanted to single out Martha Stewart. God, I wanted someone in the audience to scream out "What about Ken Lay?" Then go to split screen with a 737 being trailed by a fighter jet and another plane. OMG, I thought, Here we go again. But no, just the Air National Gaurd doing a filming/advertisment thing.
In any event, here is why I will NEVER watch CNN again. Wolfie was going on about Kerry in Ohio and mentioning Kerry wanting to create 10 million jobs and I quote Wolfie..."if, if kerry becomes president." What the fuck. Using if twice. AARRGGGGHHHH. Their blantant whoreing is just too much. Bye Bye CNN.

1. I saw it
That love crap that * was spewing is not going to play right. Wolfie is more than a whore, but this morning earlier the buthead Greenfield was on and he had a scathing view of * about appearing with Cheney, even brought up the fact "can you imagine Clinton and Gore appearing together before a commission" he went on to say that it was politically VERY damaging to the *, it makes it appear that he is not in charge.

2. both CNN and MSNBC were whoring big-time for the chimp this morning
it was all pro-war, pro-kill-more-Iraqis, they even had a father on MSNBC who had lost his son in Iraq raving about how his son had died for a good cause and how committed his son was to bringing democracy to Iraq and that kind of crap.

I felt sorry for the Dad, that he was being used like this.

It reminded me of a year ago when they were all cheerleading the war big-time.

6. I just remember a time when CNN WAS real news.......
They were a news business. No special interest stories, no Paula Zahn for an hour. Really, these shows are not news. They are COMMENTARY. Sadly, after the incident yesterday with that reporter being shamed into changing his address of * from "sir" to "mr. president" the media has to whore. Every single reporter has to give the White House a glowing report and not ask hard questions under penalty of no access (Helen Thomas Syndrome). Pathetic. I am an optimist that one day hopes that the media wakes up. Alas, when Kerry gets elected, just watch. The media will turn on him and it will be a brutal 4 years.

4. Gee, and Wolf is one of the more neutral ones
Wolf Blitzer seems almost neutral compared to Crowley, and many others. I haven't watched CNN in so long, though, I can't even remember their names, so he may have changed. I get news from the Internet, and only turn on the news channels when I need live coverage of something, like election returns or bombings. Or both, these days.

5. CNN is in trouble.
In an article yesterday in the calendar section of The Los Angeles Times, it was stated that CNN viewership had dropped considerably since the first days of the war. Some programs are lacking producers who have left either voluntarily or involuntarily. The big makeover to make CNN competitive with Faux has failed.

Here's my thoughts. What if they hired real journalists and presented news like it is on the BBC, CBC and CNN International? What a concept a news channel that follows journalistic principles like back in the days of Edward R. Murrow. Since the last real journalist, Bill Press, was fired a couple of years ago and Bernard Shaw quit in disgust, anchors like Wolf Blitzer and Paula Zahn have emerged to take their places and they can't fill the gap left because they probably got their credentials in a cereal box.

7. In the early 90s, the media became corporate owned
and many of us lamented for the future.

Now the future is the present.

CNN made a bad financial decision when, after the 2000 coup, they found themselves trailing Faux. To be competitive, they went after Faux's market, not realizing that Faux's market doesn't care about content or accuracy, they just want familiarity. Everyone on Faux looks like they've just gotten out of church on Sunday, or they're headed ot bible study. These people do not like mainstream news. They don't trust it. They believe that the devil is in everything not sanctioned by God, and CNN is certainly NOT sanctioned by god...it was sanctioned by Ted Turner, who was married to Jane Hanoi Fonda, bunch of liberal Clinton lovers! (See how easy it is to go there?)

I know noone at CNN, but I know some mukety mucks at MSNBC, and I've suggested to them that, if they want to be the biggest and best news station, they need to provide real, unvarnished, trustworthy news from honest people. They can express opinions, but it should be only in specific formats designed for opinions, and they should not consume the schedule. Appeal to the non-christian audience by creating a religion-free network. Also, create an atmosphere that promotes critical thinking, and not all the "Here's everything you need to know today in just 60 seconds" BS that abounds on Faux.

I'll stop now, but CNN really ;missed the train, and I'm afraid it's left the station. I'm really surprised, however, that MSNBC has not picked up the ball. Oh well. I trust the internet more, anyway.

10. I like MSNBC, but sometimes they just shill too much for *
I agree that if MSNBC or even CNN decided to follow the path you laid out, they would win in the news war. Until that happens, I am with you. Internet news seems to be the only way to go. Funny thing though. When our cable company was Cablevision of Boston, Newsworld International was available. Now that Comcast has bought Cablevision, NWI is gone. I really wanted to catch the wave with NWI.

8. Have you sent your views to CNN?
Seriously, every letter makes a difference, no matter how small. Enough of us write (and their ratings do continue to fall) and we might, possibly, see a bit of change.

17. Everyone HAS written them tens of times
CNN is as arrogrant, impervious to reality, and untrustworthy as Soviet Pravda, as Faux News, as Hitler's Newspapers.

Even worse, because so many people (unlike the other 3 I mentioned) think CNN is fair and impartial.

They are MISTAKEN!

15. They are all a tool for the Bush Machine
Edited on Tue Apr-06-04 01:32 PM by jarrod3645
All these "news" organizations are afraid that if they go negative on Bush and he is re-elected then they will be frozen out on everything from the WH. So now they have to whore for Bush and show that they are the easiest news slut so that the Bush regime will take them out for the next couple of years and they'll be on top. It will be interesting to see the tone of these stations about a week before the election (if Bush doesn't call for martial law and suspend all elections) if the race is extremely close. Will one of these outfits roll the dice with Kerry or will they all whore for Bush. How did we ever get here ?
