"They Hate Freedom." Is that the most articulate explanation Bush
can offer for events in Iraq? He's been repeating this same lame phrase forever. Are the American people so clueless that they don't expect something more substantial than that from their president? ...especially after watching the news in the last week.

1. That mighta worked when the war looked urgent...
...but people have had a year to think about it and I don't think it can cut it much longer, especially when we're losing more troops.

2. They hate our freedom
(from feeling any guilt as we commit unspeakable acts of collateral damage.)

10. there has been one slight variation
it used to be "they hate us for our freedom" now it's just "they hate freedom". Good to see his explanation of why so many people are dying horrible violent deaths has become more focused.

4. a cruelty of April

a cruelty of April

Iraq escalates.
A consequence intended–
April is cruel.

Deaths won’t slow the smirk,
His Candyland panderings–
No blood red backdrops.

Teenagers fall
To the liberated who
So hate their freedom.

Iraq escalates.
Unintended consequence?
April is cruel.

11. Why does'nt someone in media or the Kerry campaign point out how
stupid Bush's 'they hate us because of our freedoms' really is? BUSH hates us because of our freedoms! The Iraqui's hate us because our military is sideways up their ass...and because they think we want to steal their oil-and because we keep killing them.

Bush should not be allowed to continue making ridiculous statements like this without being challenged.

12. it's an insult to everyone
damnit! When will be people get fed up with being insulted with stupid gibberish that means nothing? Will the families of dead soldiers be satisfied with a three word explanation for their loved one's death?

14. it is a flip flop
and not the way bush uses with kerry. they hate freedom. bushco's are preventing them freedom, owning their infrastructure and their country right now and the people know and feel this and they are not only demanding their freedom they are fighting for and killing for their freedom

i laugh everytime bush says he wants iraq to have the freedoms that we have here. the president that has taken away more of our freedoms in a smaller period of time than anyone in history

15. The phrase has become a joke
My girlfriend and I have been using it for awhile amongst ourselves as an inside joke. An example of this would be when I'm sitting at the computer and the audio is so loud that my girlfriend can't hear the TV. She'll ask me to turn it down and I'll respond "You just hate me for my freedoms." When I complain about something such as how she gets so many days off of work, or how short her workday is, she also responds "You just hate me for my freedoms."

I thought it was just an inside thing but this weekend I saw some old friends from out of town who I haven't seen in a long time. They are also using the line. Spread the word. It's the new slang.

17. a lot of them don't want anything more substantial
it would mean they had to think for themselves and they certainly don't want anything that causes them more confusion than figuring out the difference between the channel changer and the volume button.

Yes, Bush is just about as engaging and articulate as your typical third-season original Star Trek episode.
