CNN started a poll "should the US raid a holy sit" one day BEFORE Fallujah
From a post by lostnfound in http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x469969#470324

"I was remembering it as being about whether bombing a mosque was ok; actually it might be this one that I was thinking of: about whether the U.S. should "raid a holy site to arrest Iraqi cleric Moqtada al-Sadr". I thought it was kind of an odd question, though.

Should the U.S. raid a holy site to arrest Iraqi cleric Moqtada al-Sadr?

Yes 65% 72698 votes

No 35% 38686 votes
Total: 111384 votes

Check out the timing on the start of the poll. I find this quite a coincidence. Is a CNN poll a way for the MalAdministration to float a balloon in this case ?

2. It's a no win situation... and perilous.
Remember what happened when Sharon went up to the Temple Mount. It started the Intefada that has taken thousans of lives, and there is no end in sight.

Entering the mosque, or bombing it directly, would incite unparalleled rage among ALL the Iraqi Muslims, regardless of sect. On the other hand, our troops cannot back down without appearing to lose authority.

Might makes right, according to Bush..and that's why we're in this quagmire. What is ahead will be far worse.

Of course, asking the public to make a detrmination, when most people have no clue about Moslem culture, is silly. Now, the entire population Bush claims to have 'liberated' is the enemy, and all are terrorists.

If people weren't dying, it would be almost comical.

Remember what's really happening:
