If you had to download Real Player to listen to Air America
As most everyone knows, that crappy Real Player is nothing but spyware and can really clog your system's resources. I REALLY didn't want to download it, but made the sacrifice in order to listen to Air America (and what a great, liberating, cathartic experience it has been...the network, not Real Player). To tweak the Real One Player so that it does the least damage, go to http://home.comcast.net/~leeandheather/tutorials/realone.htm

6. Same problem..
but choose to do it for other reasons. Since I have there are alway error messages popping up concerning Real Player(RP). I enjoy Air America on it, its better than the fade in and out of AM radio. Plus everything requires RP to hear anything on-line

8. If I had my choice
All internet radio would be streamed as MP3s from Quicktime Streaming Server.

Then you could listen with; Quicktime, Realplayer, AMP, Windows Media Player, iTunes, Mplayer, VLC, and a host of others.

In my opinion, it is a grave mistake for any network to lock itself into a proprietary player such as RealPlayer.

10. Agree, do you think......
Do you think we should email Air America about this? Just am so thrilled to have them on the air that I was ready to accept Real Player without any question/complaints whatsoever. Maybe they just don't know what scum Real is???

12. Well...
I am communicating with them on the subject of archives, and I have mentioned that people are not real happy with Real Player, but YES, write to them! If they don't hear it, they will never change.

It also couldn't hurt to call Randi Rhodes and other shows and MENTION your problems with Real Player ON THE AIR.

I am trying to get permission to archive their shows in MP3 format, but I understand that there may be rights issues. I should know more in a day or two.

Please post the result of your discussion with AA....Real Player haters want to know! According to pcqanda.com, the jet audio player will also play the Real content, without the bloat, spy. www.jetaudio.com
