Advocacy "journalism" has completely taken over
Watching C-Span this morning.
As usual, repub callers calling in to attack a messenger instead of discussing the message.
I don't know where or when it happened exactly (maybe shortly Watergate and many repubs thought the media "got" Nixon). But, it has happened and it is getting worse.
People no longer want straight reporting. They no longer want facts presented to them without a point of view.
They want advocacy journalism (in all print and electronic media). They want to know "which side" a reporter is on before they will consider the validity of the story.
I'm not talking about editorialists or columnists. I'm talking about ANY reporting. This, to me, is SO SAD. It is a big loss to our country.
We now expect our media to choose sides.
That is not, and SHOULD NOT be the media's role.
So sad that it has come to this in our country. Edward R. Murrow must be rolling over in his grave.

1. John Kay and Jerry Edmonton (Steppenwolf) said it very well...

"...They babble about law and 'bout order
But it's just the echo of what they've been told
Yes a monster's on the loose
It's put our heads into the noose..."

"... American where are you now
Don't you care about your sons and daughters
Don't you know we need you now
We can't fight alone against the monster."

Plus ca change, plus la meme chose

3. And Republicans feel the same way
Except most journalists vote Democrat.

4. And Richard Clarke said he voted for Gore....
So, nothing he said could be believed....is what one caller suggested.
