MSNBC: Bush hosts NRA, other groups at ranch
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4694101/

"CRAWFORD, Texas - President Bush will open the gates to his Prairie Chapel ranch Thursday to about 20 representatives of various sporting and conservation organizations, including the National Rifle Association, Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever.

An avid fisherman and occasional hunter, Bush loves to show off the scenic canyons, streams and trails of the 1,600-acre ranch to foreign leaders, friends and political supporters."

OK, this is sort of a "so what" article...UNTIL you come to the final paragraph:

"Bush spends several weeks at his ranch each year, hiking, fishing, and cutting down, hacking up and burning cedar, which he says is a constant project because it sucks water away from the hardwoods."

SEVERAL WEEKS? Didn't several used to mean "three or so?"

:wtf:

4. That's Funny...
I just saw a headline earlier "Bush Hosts Environmental Groups at Texas Ranch".

I mean, Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited MIGHT be classified as "environmental"... but I was thinking "Greanpeace" or "Sierra Club" and wondering what had come over the Boy King.

5. * is a conservationist!
Who woulda thunk it?? In order to save those precious hardwoods, it is imperative he spend at least "several" weeks a year lovingly tending his land. I am almost moved to tears!! :puke:

6. WHAT THE BLOODY HELL IS WRONG WITH THIS MAN?
Iraq is falling apart and he's giving ranch tours?

More than 30 Americans, and hundreds of Iraqis and others have been killed this week, and he's hiking with the canned hunting people?

:argh:

10. Or in Pittsburgh
There will only be 60,000 NRA members here next week for the annual convention.

YIKES

<http://www.postgazette.com/pg/04099/297899.stm[br />
<snip> The chief executive officer of the National Rifle Association said yesterday the organization has never been as unified as it is as it prepares to stage its annual meetings and exhibits next week at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Downtown.

Wayne LaPierre said the convention, titled "Freedom's Steel" and running April 16-20, is expected to draw 60,000 attendees, the largest crowd ever in the 133 years of the national gathering. He said it promises to be a harmonious affair with no controversial issues or policies emerging.

"I foresee a pretty positive convention to some in the past," LaPierre said in an interview at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette during a one-day visit to the city in advance of the gathering. "I think it will be a very positive, unified convention. I don't see any divisive issue out there."

9. Love to see the complete guest list of this gathering
Edited on Thu Apr-08-04 11:53 AM by cosmicdot
having once lived next door to one of Scaife's paid lawyers who was on the get-Clinton team ... once in awhile meetings were held there ... the vehicles parked outside (many with West Virginia license plates ... couldn't help to think about where Danny Casolaro was murdered) were intimidating in themselves ... some with decals representing some of today's Crawford guest organizations ... glad I don't live there anymore ... strange ... in the middle of the night, the garage door would open and the packed-to-go SUV would cruise into the night ...

... I conjecture that this gathering in Crawford today is a guise ... more than meets the eye ...

the demographics of these guests would be interesting, too

14. Bird's Eye View of the pig farm, er "Ranch".
Complete with actual pics of pig barns.

By the way, Prairie Chapel is not a name Bush himself came up with.

It has been known as the Prairie Chapel area for a long time.
