Let me get this straight: Condi's excuse is that,

although they knew something was going to happen, they didn't know the exact details of it (location, time, method, et cetera), so therefore they didn't do anything?

Al Qaeda wasn't kind enough to provide a list of participants or the exact time, date and location of an attack ... so hey, what could they do? :eyes:

I feel sure that their acceptance of the "incompetence" rap proves that they are afraid that they might get nailed with a worse rap - like, say, they did it on purpose.

I had always been skeptical about LIHOP until I listened to Rice's testimony today. She laid it right out.

* wanted to invade Iraq, but America wouldn't let him unless something really bad happened.

* was being warned that something bad was getting ready to happen.

* went on vacation and something bad happened.

* got his war with Iraq.

Although, I'm a MIHOP'er myself.

Excuse me, lady, but terrorists don't send engraved invitations with date, time and place of their planned actions. Part of the JOB of national security is to plan and prepare for worst case scenarios. Geesh, what a weenie....

The truth is out there it isn't even that hard to find anymore. And no one has ever still DARED to question what their great response actually was on the day of 9/11. Tho, I have to say this last Hardball was the best nailing of the President I've ever seen on mainstream media. Watch that one, it repeats again tonight.

and as i heard her speak about the problems of the cultures of the fbi, of the cia, of congress, and of america in general, as the cause of the lack of information percolating up to el presidente, all i could envison is the old Peanuts cartoon where Linus is standing over a lamp he broke and thinking "maybe i can blame it on society."

The basic spin she tried to promote was that Bush actually was working on terrorism the entire time. It only looked like it had been downgraded and forgotten because his plan was so deep and clever that it went beyound terrorism to fix the entire world.

I think that's it...she wants us to believe Shrub's vision was so all-encompassing and grand that we cannot grasp it.

However, apparently, 7 months and 1 day was just the right amount of time, because she said they fixed some(many? most? need a transcript I guess) of the problems the day after September 11.

Anybody who compares the efforts this Administration put into Iraq with the efforts they put into Al Queda knows where its priorities lie (and have always lain).

"The way that we went about this was to have individual cases where you were trying to build a criminal case, individual offices with responsibility for those cases. Much was not coming to the FBI in a way that it could then engage the policymakers. So these were big structural reforms. We did some things to try and get the CIA reforming. We did some things to try and get a better sense of how to put all of this together. But structural reform is hard, and in seven months we didn't have time to make the changes that were necessary. We made them almost immediately after September 11th."

If I received information that something huge and terribly bad was going to happen to my home or family, even if I did not know specifically what or when, I would have done EVERYTHING within my power to prevent whatever it was and find out when it was going to happen, to the exclusion of everything else.

By not doing everything they could to prevent WHATEVER the threat was, WHENEVER it came when they knew SOMETHING was coming, this administration let an awful thing happen to OUR house, and to OUR family...our house being this country, and our family being every person who calls this house theirs. I am appalled and disgusted that this administration, NO MATTER HOW THEY BECAME HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD, did not do everything they could to protect the home and the family. It sickens me.

Do I feel better now? No. It gets worse by the day as more and more details come out about the incredulous lack of concern this administration had for this country, and its citizens.

God, I can't WAIT for November.

Otherwise, how would they KNOW a soirée was about to go down?

Her other argument seemed to be, "Terrorism was very important to President Bush, that's why we had 100+ meetings before it ever came up."

Plus she lies and spins ans jabbers on and on to take up time and not answer any questions that she was asked.....She is the one who trains the imitation president to wonder around and not answer anything ...... just spin... LIES LIES LIES.
