RNC Registered 1,029,492 new voters, wake up call.
"We did it! We registered 1,029,492 new voters during National Voter Registration Week, exceeding our goal of 1 million." RNC

I just got a stack of new registration applications from my county clerk last week. I ask that every member of DU do the same. Register progressives!

2. I've been doing physical therapy cause of a broken knee...
and I told my therapist that I was gonna bring him a present, a voters registration form...

He got really excited and asked for two, so he could give one to his wife also...

The guy cared nothing about politics but after months of me, he knows and cares now...

We can spread the message just as well as the republicans can guys...bring a stack of voter registration cards everywhere you go!!

7. The uncountable votes....
There will be lots and lots of people who will proclaim support for Chimpy because they view themselves as republicans, and voting republican is what they've always done...but then they will vote their conscience in the privacy of the booth when no one is looking over their shoulders.

8. Nevertheless, we need to be vigilant. Will you obtain...
applications and register as many progressives as you can? If you already are, I commend you.

9. Just how do we know that they are all repukes now?
I've done many voter registration drives, and can't count bow many I've registered.

I've never rifled thru the forms, and have never assumed they were all registering democrat.

I was informed it is illegal to only accept forms from only one party. You have to accept them all, or you aren't allowed to be a registrar.

Am I wrong?

I've never understood how anyone can claim that ever one that they've given a form to complete and return will register as a dem.

Of course, at the same time, I don't doubt that if anyone registered as a democrat at one of these repuke registration functions, either their form would somehow mysteriously never make it to the state's dept of elections or there would be a "mistake" in where the dem registration would come back as a repuke one.

12. The voter registration form
is a single form (each state would have its own) on which the registrant indicates his party affiliation or lack thereof. There are not separate forms by political party.

However, one trick is to go door to door offering to register the residents. If they indicate Democrat on the form, mail it in for them. If they indicate Republican, smile, hand it back, and let them know they can mail it in themselves. Perfectly legal.

14. That is a good idea.
I know that there is a single form. Since we are democrats, and therefore, honerable and honest persons, it never occured to us to be selective and act like pukes. No one in the democratic party here plays by the pukes playbook.

If it were the pukes doing the registration, I would expect them to cheat, lie, and do everything they could to steal another election. After all, all we have is their sorry record of "achievement" on this in many states, Florida being the "poster boy" of the pukes idea of "fair play", "ethics", and "honor".

Chimpster has $200 million to rip Kerry. By the time they are done, almost all Repugs will vote for VacationBoy.

19. This is part of Bush's master plan
To get people who know nothing about the issues and who don't vote now but would probably vote Republican just because they think that they are a "tougher" party.

Why do you think Bush is running constant ads during sporting events?

22. Why are most of you ignoring the point of the thread?
We do need to register more people rather than make claims that Repugs won't vote for Bush, etc. If the Repugs registered, 1 million people, it means they have 1 million more people they can target with phone calls and literature, while some of the Democrats, here at least, are simply saying, "I bet half of them won't vote for Bush." That won't cut it come November. The fact is Bush is very popular, popular enough to remain competitive despite the horros of Iraq and our struggling economy.

24. We can't assume that people will "get it" by November
Bush has had one of the worst stretches of publicity of his presidency, and yet he is still very competitive in nearly every poll. We can't assume that the RNC would be stupid enough to register voters that would vote largely Democratic. I'm sure that they are targeting specific areas in swing states that vote 60%+ (or more) Republican.

Democratic organizations need to do the same and register at least as many if we want to remain competitive.
