This is an emergency CALL TO ACTION for all DU'ers!!
Edited on Fri Apr-09-04 02:46 PM by anarchy1999
Call your reps, call your senators, call your media. This siege of Fallujah must end. THIS IS WRONG! A cease fire so women and children can leave the town, our Commandant wants the only journalists out as a condition. What are we the people of this country letting our military do? THIS HAS TO STOP! Please I'm begging each and every one of you here, we have a chance to make a difference, please just imagine if this was your town.

This is a WAR CRIME against Humanity and we, the citizens of this country are ultimately responsible.

PLEASE!

Oh my god, how convenient, it is GOOD FRIDAY.

NO ONE IS AVAILABLE.

This is wrong and it has to be stopped. I feel like I'm on the outside looking in. I'm in a nightmare I can not wake up from. Jesus, God, please help all of the people that are there.

25. We must flood the networks on TV and radio. This must stop!!!
If this is true (and I hope that it isn't) Bush should be tried for war crimes just like Hitler's regime.

If you can't get through on the TV and radio, call your newspapers. E-mail journalists who have listed e-mails.

Do whatever you can. Even call your church officials...doesn't matter if they are funddies or not...just call and raise hell. Cut off tithes to all churches who stand by and support this genocide.

Remember, WE ARE OCCUPYING A COUNTRY THAT DID NOT DO ANYTHING TO THE US!!

31. It's actually worse
they were going to have a 24 hour cease fire, to allow people to leave and then they called it off because the insurgents hit a convoy.

98. Okay, can we create an organized response?
All of us here, we are calling, we are sending faxes. Let us start a new thread and keep everyone posted. Is it possible, can we do it, Hell YES! Please, we have a town to save and lots of people including our very own. Mari333, this is for you and Michael. Please come help.

114. Just give it up. No One gives a SHIT.
Edited on Fri Apr-09-04 06:16 PM by anarchy1999
I am so sorry. I quit.

We deserve what comes. I am so sorry for us all. I am not gloom and doom, I just see and understand what is coming, the train can not be stopped.

I've tried to reach out to every media person there is, I've tried to contact every representative I have in Washington. No one cares, no one wants to hear about Fallujah. I hate what we have become.

Let us wipe out a town because four "American" mercenaries were killed, burned and lynched. Go back for the last year and see what the people of this town have lived through. There are many of us here that would join with them if we were there.

126. I'm sorry for my moment of despondency. I will not quit.
I will do everything within me to stop this military action on this town. I will stand firm and I will see every person held accountable for this crime.

Spare me. Our soldiers are making every possible effort to protect the life of women and children. If the Iraqi insurgents have to be cowards and hide behind them, then I think it is they you need to be appealing to.

This war was wrong to begin with, but if we up and left now, warlords would take over and their would be a butcher of men, women and children like you've never seen. Americans protect lives, pour your outrage on the savages.

have nothing to do with the men, though, right? >>

BAGHDAD, Iraq -- U.S. Marines on the edges of Fallujah checked a long line of cars filled with people trying to leave the tense Iraqi city amid a U.S.-called halt to the fighting Friday.

Marines are letting women, children and the elderly out of the city but are keeping men of military age in. One woman begged Marines to let her husband come with her.

The U.S. military earlier said it was halting its 5-day-old campaign in Fallujah -- dubbed Operation Vigilant Resolve -- to let the Iraqis negotiate an end to the insurgency there.

Dan Senor, senior coalition adviser, said Friday the halt also will let Iraqis bury their dead. Some residents are burying their dead at a sports stadium because they don't have access to cemeteries

5. The Christian Bush condones doing this on Good Friday. The man and his
administration go back to some time of evil I don't even want to think about.

And no one will condemn them. Our churches and the Pope are silent on this.

That we live in a supposedly "enlightened" time where information is everywhere, and this is going on, is too much to bear.

Who will listen to us? What do we do? We have to keep doing what those of us have done and keep faxing, phoning, and supporting every demonstration we can.

For those of us in areas of the country where we are "alone in our views about this Invasion/Occupation" this is just so hard, not being able to organize some kind of demonstration or have folks we can talk to about it.

Thanks for the alert. Will do what I can.

Quite a coincidence that this happens on Good Friday, Easter recess when we can't reach our representatives.

16. There is a reason the Geneva Convention forbides bombing...
...residential areas: innocents get killed every time. Why? Because they fucking LIVE THERE.

- The problem is that the Bush* government has ordered the bombing of residential areas since the very beginning of HIS 'war'. One of the first bombs that fell in an attempt to 'Get Saddam' killed ONLY civilians.

- It's one thing if a few civilians are accidentally killed in a 'time of war'...but it's quite another if the occupying army continues to do the same thing over and over...disregarding the fact that the areas they're bombing contain innocents.

- Intentionally bombing residential areas is a war crime.

If the dozen or so that killed the four mercenaries get away, so be it. At least we won't h;ave killed thousands of innocents, just assuming they are guilty because they are men who happen to live in a certain area.

THIS WILL BE A WAR CRIME IF THEY BOMB THIS AREA.

As many Christians worship an ego-centric Santa Claus god. Be good and adopt the most narrow view of god and he'll bring you goodies, the best of which will be an everlasting life for your small-minded ego preserved in optimum conditions (i.e. free from the bother of millions of souls "different" from you.)

My-god-is-better-than-your-god is a sure mark of a spiritually immature "believer's" self doubt.

- So much for America being a civilized society. We're supposed to be BETTER than our enemies and lead by example. I want no part of George's war where it's okay to kill every living thing that gets in the way of his 'final solution' for Iraq.

- Empathy. Think of how you would feel if the situation were reversed...that you lived in occupied America.

Surrounding a town and trapping everyone inside and then bombarding it to rubble is genocide.

45. Looks like Intelbytes and karabekian are cut from the same cloth.
Let's just go over this ONE TIME!! OK??

WHY are we in Iraq? Is it to oust Saddam Hussein? Well, fine! He's gone. So...

So, WHY are we in Iraq NOW??? Still?? If Saddam's gone, and they don't want us there.....WHY ARE WE THERE??

The Iraqi's have EVERY RIGHT to fire guns from their homes. Those are THEIR homes. We have NO RIGHTS over their homes. They have every right to fire guns from their mosques. It is THEIR country......NOT OURS!!! They did not ASK to have their country invaded. They didn't even ask the U.S. to take out Saddam! It's no longer any of our fucking business, since they REALLY WANT us outta there!

If China or Russia invaded the U.S., and took out OUR dictator, but then wouldn't leave....and kept bombing our schools, and libraries, and cultural centers....would you by any chance fire a gun at them if you had one? No?? You'd roll over and just let them do whatever they wanted to do? Well-- then you might get put on their governing council when they started bringing in their buddies to run the government.

If we just LEFT Iraq, like they're trying to insist we do, they will surely ask for and receive help on their own terms to put their government back together. There are many ways they can get help from the international community at this point....and they have the oil to help pay for it. Do you think they're stupid? Do you think they wouldn't ask certain countries, or the U.N. to come help out while they set up a new government?

Don't forget, when you point a finger at someone else in blame, you have 3 fingers pointing right back at yourself.

Iraqis are people....just like me and you.

Get a clue!

74. The people in this town are not rebels.
Please do your homework on Fallujah. This was a peaceful town, not in favor of Saddam, but they were Sunni's. Very religious, not secular. They were uninvolved in the war and Saddam's downfall. The people of this town were happy to see him go.

Six to eight weeks after we pulled down the statue of Saddam in Baghdad, our troops and our tanks rolled into this little suburb of Baghdad. Our troops decided they would set up camp in a school. Prior to their arrival, kids had still been going to school all throughout the "war".

People of the town rose up in protest on April 28 and marched on the school. Our military fired into the crowd and killed 15+ and injured 50+ people that day. Things in this town have never been okay since.

How would you feel? Picture this in your town or suburb.

Or are they insurgents.. I can't fucking keep it straight! Once they were "resistance fighters" but the WHite House complained that it made them sound too romantic (actually, it made them sound justified!). Any citizen fighting for their life is still a citizen. We fucked up.. plain and simple, our brutality and heavy-handedness, and greed did this. And we are reaping what we have sown. And here we are firing on civilians.. on Good Friday, no less. Onward Christian Soldiers and all that..

102. You automatically assume that when we protest the murder...
...of women and children that we're blaming 'the troops'. It's the CIC's fault...and those who order them into an illegal war.

- Those who plan the battles in Iraq MUST know that when you drop a bomb in a residential neighborhood that SOME civilians are bound to be killed. It's not enough to simply dismiss them as collateral damage.

- And it doesn't mitigate the damage if a few so-called terrorists are killed at the same time. It's not worth the life of ONE child. But such is the nature of George's phony war.

88. OK, I had my fun...
My point wasn't intentionally to flame-bait (although it is a lot of fun), but my reply to the original message is that I support our troops. I don't agree with the reason we went to war, but we are there now. I don't like seeing our soldiers being accused of killing women and children. I've seen too many pictures of our soldiers running onto the battlefield, risking their lives to rescue children that have fallen in the "killing fields".

Personally, I know that if we pull out now there will be a slaughter. I believe all of you know it as well. That is why we need to stay the course. Hopefully Kerry can make things run smoother over there. But who ever it is, we have to finish this ill-begotten mission.

93. If one of our soldiers ever kills a women or child intentionally,
I believe he should be put away for life, or worse. Even with the pictures, are you trying to say that our U.S. soldiers are intentionally trying to kill women and children? If a rogue soldier or a rogue band does kill civilians, it should not be an indictment on all of our soldiers who are fighting courageously. That is as bad as saying because one muslims kill, they all kill for fun.

No male over age 10 was allowed to leave during the short cease fire earlier today -- it appears that we intentionally set out to kill any male over age 10 in this city? What mother will leave behind her teenage sons in a besieged city? This sounds like the precursor to a Nazi massacre on all the males of an entire town.

What the hell is the US military thinking?
