Possible wedge issue
on another forum, I saw a bunch of Republicans say they are now considering voting for Kerry. The reason? Asscroft and Co.'s recent crackdown on pornography.

If this gets big it could drive away pretty much anyone who isn't a fundie nutcase.

7. They pissed off a million
or so log cabin repubs with the marriage amendment, not to say there families. Thats in addition to the other 12or 15 million gays out there, plus families. NOW the right wing fornicator's and the porn entusists...pretty soon all they will have are the guys in the pulpit to vote for them.

2. A lot of angry white males like their porn
They are angry. They live alone. They are mad at the world and they are conservative. But they like their porn, and government better not mess with that.

6. Ashcroft'll have to pry their porn from their cold dead hands.
The right wingers who have taken over FM radio ain't exactly thrilled with Ashcroft either.

4. well...you know...
The biggest purveyors of porn are Hilton, Hyatt and Marriott, all Republican dominated corporations.

The biggest consumers of porn are Republican businessmen staying at Hilton, Hyatt and Marriott hotels.

You would think Bush and Rove would have a better idea who their constituency is. I guess Bush is not very politically cunning, on top of being a lousy linguist. :)

censorship of porn pleases the fundies but pisses off the folks you mention. Asscroft is starting to cross the line.

10. Yes - he's Joel Hyatt
Howard Metzenbaum's son-in-law. I'm not certain he's directly in line with the Hyatt Hotel folk - he might be - I am getting old and can't recall campaigns from umpteen years ago anymore. Sorry
