Troops asked to pray for George Bush
"US soldiers in Iraq asked to pray for Bush
They may be the ones facing danger on the battlefield, but US soldiers in Iraq are being asked to pray for President George W Bush.

Thousands of marines have been given a pamphlet called "A Christian's Duty," a mini prayer book which includes a tear-out section to be mailed to the White House pledging the soldier who sends it in has been praying for Bush.

"I have committed to pray for you, your family, your staff and our troops during this time of uncertainty and tumult. May God's peace be your guide," says the pledge, according to a journalist embedded with coalition forces.

The pamphlet, produced by a group called In Touch Ministries, offers a daily prayer to be made for the US president, a born-again Christian who likes to invoke his God in speeches. "

9. It's Not Uncommon, But...
My late father served in World War II...among his artifacts was a Jewish prayer book with a special prayer right in the front cover for President Roosevelt and his cabinet.

This isn't the first time I've read stories of over-zealous military types who include * name as part of their prayers and services. I see it more like pushing for an oath of allegience that bugs me. There's still this push in the military to legitimize the boychild with that infamous "things are better now than they were under that gay-loving, draft-dodging, dope-smoking, womanizing Clinton. The more I see it, the more it shows me the "hearts and minds" of our young men and women are being lost, not won.

We definitely need to get a reign on both the mercenaries/"contractors" and mercenaries/missionaries that are running amok throughout Iraq. How'd Mr. Holier-Than-Thou like to have a mullah come up to his front door and start telling him how the god he's worshiped...and that of his family for centuries was the wrong god. Damn if it isn't the same god, just a different connection. Would Mr. Freeper welcome the Ayatollah in his house? Bets are he'd pull out his illegal handgun (and drop gun, too).

These religious nuts are creating such animosity in the Arab world that is boiling and ready to explode across the Arab world. Not only do these people represent the worst of America, they make easy hostages and targets...pissing off the regime who responds with more firepower that will result in more of our kids being sent into this snakepit...and for what???

4. I could think of a few things I would write on that paper!
And it wouldn't be what the pamphlet suggested!

The young men and women in Iraq should be praying for each other, not the dimwit and his fatcat friends that sent them there.

15. Fuck'em!
If these freepers think that our soldiers should be praying for
Bush...then freepers should be sent out and shot.
They are no worse than any other type of religious nutcases
found across this world. We need to get rid of them.

10. I've Been Praying For Bush, Too
I've been praying for George W. Bush, too...

1) That he won't dream up new conflicts to get more Americans killed in before November 2004;

2) That he will suddenly discover ethics;

3) That he will figure out his Organ Grinder "Sideshow Dick" Cheney is an evil man and should be fired;

Prayers are nice, but as you might imagine mine have gone unanswered.

That he and his entire administration will be swallowed up into an enormous chasm during a freak earthquake, and the highest-ranking government official left standing would be a DEMOCRAT.

18. I have a Voodoo pamphlet that I would like to distribute to the troops.
That doesn't in any way mean that I knock or discount the power of prayer. This is just an accelerating agent to kick-start what I think we're all praying for.

21. The soldiers should pray for Bush
They should pray that he realizes his error and tries to pull us out of this mess

They should pray that his drug-damaged mind finally finds empathy and compassion, and realizes the horrible pain he has caused to his fellow human beings

They should pray that Bush starts to understand the difference between power and right

They should pray that Bush realizes the dignity of all human beings, and not just his dady's friends at the country club.

They should pray that Bush realizes the evil he has caused, and that he atones for it by stepping down immediately

24. Possibly the most selfish prick on earth
Selfishness is, after all, a huge component in conservatism, and it's also a major one in Christianity. To be blunt: much of the activity of a Christian is focused upon making sure he/she gets the ultimate reward.

Enough of that, though; many Christians are just fine, and that's not my beef here. My beef is this little hereditary nobody; the very idea of him wanting the weak, poor and imperiled to pray for him is beyond mere selfishness, it's the deepest kind of human ugliness.

All Christians with any conscience should repudiate this creep and work within the fold to send him packing.

29. O Lord...hear my prayer...
That our so called commander-in-chief be voted out in a 50 state landslide come November...

That in their "retirement", the average temperature surrounding Crawford Texas not be less than 120 degrees, perfect for clearing brush...

That the First Lady be surrounded by thousands of books, then break her glasses like Burgess Meredith on that Twilight Zone episode...

That their daughters slake their thirst by drinking out of promotional-size tequila bottles to obliterate the memory of their disgraceful family and never even consider politics for themselves or their offspring...

We humbly beesech thee...Amen...and Amen.

(now watch this drive!!)
