I'm an attorney. We have a few members of our profession who think they can hide a drinking problem. They can't. He's been slurring his words and he has a sweaty head and hair and a red face. Looks like he needs to find Jesus again.

2. I noticed the word-slurring myself.
NEVER have I heard such a mush-mouth, and I spent 25 years in the news biz, most of it on the radio. He consistently has trouble with the big words anyway, but it's just a little too noticeable. I guess those media blinders are still on nice and snug, for all my former colleagues...

3. or ...
a. He could be keeping a lower profile in an attempt to distance his image from the horrible week in Iraq and the 9-11 Commission
b. He could be on the verge of a breakdown and REALLY needed some time off
c. They've bundled the concepts of Bush & 9-11 into a single package and are trying to decide how they're going to repackage him (The "Gone Fishin'" President)

8. That would be a good Move On spot.

Show something from Sept 11, maybe a distant picture of WTC.
Voice over: While the Terrorists were honing their plan to murder 3,000 people, our fearless leader was too busy cutting brush and fishing to read his brief, very brief, briefing memos.

Show all of Aug 6 memo (to show how short it is) and highlight bin Laden part. Zoom in on highlighted text. Read it for emphasis. Voice reads part of Aug 6 security briefing about bin Laden wanting to strike within US.

Voice over: and the next day, down on the ranch...
Show Aug 7 tape of Bush on the ranch talking about Saddam.

Show tape of Bush casting fishing rod.
Voice over: Does he sound to you like someone who read the above memo?

Show the White House with a "Gone Fishin', be back next month - GWB" sign out front (or the Oval Office with a yellow Postit note on the desk).
Voice over: He likes to fish more than he likes to be president. In November, let's give him the opportunity to fish full time. Let someone else be our FULL-TIME president.
(Edited for clarity)

4. Bush is in way over his head.
He is showing it on his face. He is not very smart, and he needs other people to do his thinking for him. Unfortunately, the people he has around him are not true friends. They are users. And he is in deep trouble.

I almost feel sorry for him.

20. Ummm, a legacy 'C' student at that.
Sleep medication? You bet, and I think Powell supplies them.

Colin Powell on (His) Drug Use

Calling Drug Czar John Walters....We did a doubletake when
we saw this in Monday's Washington Post. We're still
laughing:

Powell's Chemical Equation

Powell described his killer schedule in an interview Thursday
with Abdul Rahman Al-Rashed, a reporter for a London-based
Saudi newspaper.

"So do you use sleeping tablets to organize yourself?" Al-Rashed
asked.

"Yes. Well, I wouldn't call them that," Powell said. "They're a
wonderful medication -- not medication. How would you call it?
They're called Ambien, which is very good. You don't use
Ambien? Everybody here uses Ambien."

10. Nor are they very smart
The idiot prince has chosen idiot advisors.

Rove=Not a Genius

Cheney=Flunked Out of Yale

Seriously, regardless of the racial/historical barriers to getting INTO Yale, I think once there, in order to be president, you should pass. I think there should be some minimal academic hurdles prior to being President of the United States and Leader of the Free World.

11. I feel more sorry for this country.
Really, he is in over his head. He's never been tested. When he's screwed up in the past, he had fixers to deal with it. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think being Texas governor was largely a symbolic position. He's bragged about his lack of interest in what's going on around him. Everything is filtered for him.

He was probably chosen by the Republican king-makers for his "no questions asked" attitude and a character that is pretty corruptable. But things are going all wrong and the pressure on him is increasing. Perhaps all the lies and guilt are catching up.

I don't watch him much (can't stand to look at him, frankly), but his sentences seemed to be getting shorter and disjointed, almost rambling. He could indeed be headed for a nervous breakdown....and that is the scariest thought of all.

6. Don't ever feel sorry for him..

Have you noticed how casually he will answer a question? I have noticed a major difference. It is almost as if he wants to get in trouble by saying something really dumb.
And he gets mad very quickly. Anything can set him off.
I think it is the drinking.

Did you see the pixs of the twins on DU today?
They looked hung over too.
Was there ever a picture of the whole family at church together ? I think they are all in melt-down.

13. What if it's not drinking. What if he's getting ready to pull an LBJ.
A couple of more months like this one, in Iraq, and Bush could very possibly fall on his sword, for the sake of the Republican Party, and pull a LBJ in 68 style, "I cannot and will not accept my parties nomination for a second term as your president"

If the Puppet Goverment in Iraq folds like a house of cards, We take a couple of hundred casualties over the next couple of months, we are unable to meet the June 1st deadline, that Bush has hitched the fate of his entire administration to, Bush's poll numbers start to fall into the low 40's or high 30's, then the Bush administration could be over in as little as sixty days as a savage media fenzy the likes of which we have never seen engulfs them.

When not just the liberal media turns on Bush, But the mainstream conservative media turns on Bush as well, The Will's, Buckley's and O'Reilly'... it's over.

Somebody in the Kerry camp needs to start thinking about "what if it's not Bush" Because we've actualy come to the point, where the the LBJ scenario is possible.

22. I agree...
I've been thinking he might pull an LBJ as well, but not so much for the good of the party.

It just seems to me like he thinks being President isn't 'fun' anymore. It's getting really difficult. He's too simple minded and spoiled to do anything in his life that's difficult and painful. He seems bored with his shiny new toy.

24. I don't think his owners will let him do an LBJ.
That would lose them too much prestige and earn too much ridicule.

I think their best bet to strengthen their grip on the nation will be to do a JFK and have him assassinated. Then they can set up another Warren Commission, this time to "prove" it was a) a Godless Librul; b) a Heathen Islamist; c) Bill Clinton's Cock; and d) all the above.

That will give them the ammunition to cancel the elections and the constitution, nuke Iraq, have another tax cut, and let the Supreme Whores appoint Neil Bush as President.
