"Air Force One" movie with Harrison Ford is on ABC tonight. Hmmmm...
Maybe my tinfoil hat is too tight, and cutting off circulation, but I have to wonder about the timing of this movie. I mean, it is a heck of a coincidence that right now when the President of the USA is facing such rough waters. And this is a President who in many ways is the most powerful President of modern times. This guy is connected into the corporate power structure in a way that no other President has been connected. And right now in his "hour of need", comes a movie named after the plane he flies around, starring Harrison Ford as a most heroic President....

Is it just me, or is the timing of this movie on broadcast TV MOST auspicious?

4. Ha
If anything, this is bad for Bush.

People will watch this and then feel nothing but shame, regret, and embarassment for having such a stupid, cowardly shithead in the Oval Office.

5. I still can't get over all the Jesus shows
From the History channel to The Discovery channel. I'm sick of all these biblical specials. What's next a Jesus variety show?

8. You know what really pisses me off about this "Jesus" fad?
You would think that all these people going to see the Passion and being "moved" by it's "lifechanging" effects would take notice of Christ's philosophies.

It's funny, but I don't ever recall Christ justifying wealth by saying that rich people are simply favored by God (and that is why they are rich) or condemning poor people and telling them that they are poor because they are lazy. I don't remember Jesus being quite the fascist that people like Bush and Pat Robertson make him out to be.

Maybe these fucking wannabe Christian idiots should take a look around and realize that Bush and the Republicans are nothing but power-mad elitists who are only looking to help themselves and fuck over everyone else.

Bush says his favorite philosopher is Jesus Christ?

THEN FUCKING ACT LIKE IT, ASSHOLE!!!!!!!!

9. I agree
Remember, God speaks to Bush. God told Bush to go to war. How bad can someone be that talks to God?

"Bomb your enemies", "500 eyes for an eye", etc.

14. Not only saturated the TV,
but was TIME magazine's cover story, like there weren't sufficient current events to cover. Enough already!

I'm glad Easter is over.

10. Hey, I thought this movie was good. One of my favorites.
And there is no way I would think about Bush* when watching this movie. The president in this movie is no coward. And his first lady has a lot of courage in this movie.

13. Anyone notice how the terrorists kill the flight crew, and fly the plane..
Edited on Mon Apr-12-04 08:09 PM by VolcanoJen
... themselves??? They kill the pilot, and the copilot, as they are trying to land the plane, yank them out of their chairs, and put their own terrorist pilot in to fly the plane.

Hmmmm. When did this movie come out? '97?

In other words, I know we're talking about a Hollywood movie here, but someone imagined something other than a "traditional" hijacking.

16. For what it's worth --
"The Fifth Element" was on last night and Gary Oldman's character (the villain) is JUST like George Bush and does a WICKED version of the war-profiteers' rationale.

19. if anything
AF One and the West Wing make me wish we had Harrison Ford or Martin Sheen -- both liberals -- for president for real. These actors would be head, shoulders and then some above the current idiot and his masters. They have intellectual curiousity and they read!

Besides Gary Oldman's character, in reference to war, just made a crack about killing 100,000 Iraqis to save a few pennies at the pump.

TOUCHE!

The airing of this movie at this time does not help Bush; it makes anyone realize how sad it is that we have such an excellent fictional president while the reality is a miserable failure.
