Bush Says Brief on Al Qaeda Threat Was Not Specific
Bush Says Brief on Al Qaeda Threat Was Not Specific

Published: April 12, 2004

WASHINGTON, April 11 — President Bush said on Sunday that the intelligence briefing he received on Al Qaeda one month before the Sept. 11 strike contained no specific "indication of a terrorist attack" on American soil. He also defended the adequacy of his response to the warnings that terrorists in the United States might be planning hijackings.

Mr. Bush, in his first public remarks since the release of his top-secret briefing Saturday evening, played down the urgency of the information he was given at his ranch 36 days before terrorists flew airplanes into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania. In doing so, Mr. Bush echoed the testimony last week by his national security adviser, Condoleezza Rice, before the commission investigating the attacks, which had pushed for the release of the briefing.

"I am satisfied that I never saw any intelligence that indicated there was going to be an attack on America — at a time and a place, an attack," Mr. Bush said after attending Easter services in Fort Hood, Tex. "Of course we knew that America was hated by Osama bin Laden. That was obvious. The question was, who was going to attack us, when and where, and with what."

-------

ok, so he gets this memo saying Al Qaeda MIGHT attack, but does nothing about it because it's not "specific enough"? (was he waiting for an engraved invitation?)

HOWEVER, he invades IRAQ based on information that is years old and with no specific proof that Iraq still had WMDs...

Meanwhile, since 9-11, we've had a deluge of alerts based on non-specific and undisclosed internet "chatter"

What's wrong with this picture?

2. from the Clark blog
The Regime thinks it convince the sheeple that the only "specific enough" information would have been a note tied to a brick and thrown the a window of the Oval Office. It would have to say something like:

"Infidel dogs:

We, Al Qaeda, intend to hijack four B-757 and 767 aircraft and fly them into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the White House at approximately 9:00 a.m. on 9/11/01. The airlines, flight numbers, departure airports and the names, addresses and telephone numbers of the hijackers are listed below. We are also enclosing copies of their drivers' license photographs and their plane tickets. Please feel free to call me at the number listed below if you have any questions.

Very truly yours,
Osama bin Laden

8. I knew Binny baby was a meany
"The P.D.B. was no indication of a terrorist threat," Mr. Bush said. "There was not a time and place of an attack. It said Osama bin Laden had designs on America. Well, I knew that. What I wanted to know was, is there anything specifically going to take place in America that we needed to react to?"

Cuz Condi and Karen told me so -
So there!

Plausible deniability. The keystone of black operations.

Leader of the greatest power on earth...is the last to know? There's always some fool who doesn't get the message. Don't you wish this story were that simple?

Why doesn't he say this: "I only know what they tell me." "I don't read and can't think for myself but I'm spoon fed every day." That ought to convince everyone. Why, because it's plausible with a fucking moron in the white house.

12. President says he would have "moved mountains"
had he known about a specific attack. But damn it. I'm on vacation now and would rather not be disturbed.

13. Barely coherent

Chimpy's barely coherent weasel words: "I am satisfied that I never saw any intelligence that indicated there was going to be an attack on America — at a time and a place, an attack,"

He sounds as if he's talking about someone else. NOT "I never saw," but "I'm satisfied that I never saw any intelligence..."

Sounds as if he's already preparing for his trial.
