Need help with letter to editor
I have been very active in attending peace rallies. We had one in our area March 20. Recently there was a letter to the editor stating anyone who rallies for peace are just "Bush bashers and dupes of the Democratic Party." He went on to say we harm the morale of the troops and embolden the enemy. I always carry an American flag and a sign that says "Support the Troops. Bring them home." Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

1. They are wrong in som many ways...
I recently read a quote from a soldier who said, "we're too busy to think about protests."

The Republicans mouth words of "support" yet they have ignored pleas from the commanding generals for more troops to handle the mess in Iraq. They have enabled the war profiteers like Halliburton who rip us off and shortchange the troops in the field (charged for 42,000 hot meals, served 14,000 peanut butter sandwiches.) They have tried to restrict and cut the benefits to veterans and wounded soldiers. They have forced casualties to return to Iraq without proper rest and recuperation under threat of court martial.

So, who is not supporting the troops?

2. You could point to the broad spectrum of those against invading Iraq
Business members opposed the war--I still have their full page ad from the Wall Street Journal.

Republicans opposed the war--Joe Wilson, many retired generals

The Pope opposed the war, a huge number of denominations passed resolutions against the war.

You will probably never convince the moron who wrote that letter, but you could turn it on him.

I have coined a meme to answer the "support the troops" slogan that actually means "support the government of George W Bush". I say: "Support the Truth".

3. The soldiers are more concerned with their cancelled discharges
Regular military, reserve, and national guard alike.
