"If Bush/Cheney wins the election, I'm leaving the country."
Does this bother anyone else to hear this? I understand that we have all experienced oppressive government the last 3.5 years, however is this a logical solution? If everyone with this mentality and Democratic/Progressive vision left, they win, not us. I don't understand the consistent usage of this threat by the younger 'voting' population, personally it seems more idle threat v. determination.

Your thoughts?

6. This is what I am hoping...
I would really hope that the Democrats/Progressives radicals and otherwise would seize the opportunity...and not evacuate in the face of adversity...

However, enough of the pessimism talk...

4. If Bush wins, it will only be another four years until the next election.
Everyone should stick around, participate in American life and make the world a better place. No matter who is in the Wite House, the people around you need YOU.

If elections are still permitted at all.

11. four years is a long time
I am afraid that once the Supreme Court is all right-wing there will be no more Bill of Rights. They will dismantle whatever worker's and environmental protections there are, etc. Very dark days indeed.

5. Bothers me
and I get livid when I hear they will leave and not vote absentee. We have citizenship and that has rights and responsibilities. We have to work to install a Government that works instead of a Government that promotes wars and environmental armageddon. Live somewhere else, give your loyalty to another nation, but get out the vote and vote yourselves. The US has too much power around the world. It's citizens have too much sway. So accept the power and use it.

7. Where will be safe?
Today America, tomorrow the world.

* tried and started off decently enough (as far as mentally ill tyrants go), but he's still got a way to go, fortunately.

In the end, where would a person go?

8. My thought is that wingnuts salivate over statements like that.
I prefer to stick around and make the lives of the con artist Republicans more miserable than they already are. They are lying scum and deserve every bit of added discomfort that real patriots of the Gadsden flag can heap upon their soulless, greed creeded lives. And their stupid bushmoonie enablers, too.

12. Leaving the U.S. sure bothers me.
To anyone who leaves: "Don't let the door kick you in the ass."

We need fewer sunshine patriots, and more real ones.

13. Doesn't bother me
I am one of the ones who intends to leave. If Bush wins, the country as we know it will cease to exist and if people allow Bush to win and endorse what he represents I don't want to be part of this country anyway. I am already ashamed to be an American as a result of the last four years and I feel no responsibility to hang around and fight if the majority of Americans decide that this is the kind of country they either want or can tolerate. This is no ordinary election.I pray that the imbecile is removed but we can't even be sure the votes will be counted. A revolution may be nessessarry to regain our rights but unfortunately most Americans are too busy just surviving.

14. Id leave even if they didnt win.
But thats not realistic as I have no way to emigrate..not independently wealthy nor any in-demand job skill that would make me a good immmigrant. And Im too old.

But, I don't think it matters who wins...the USA is going right (wrong?) either way.
