For the record it's the "U.S.A PATRIOT" Act
not the "Patriot Act". It's an acronym and the USA part is an important section of the name. It stands for

Uniting & Strengthening of American by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism

Seeing it spelled out it sounds like a great idea no? Even the acronym sounds wonderful.

1. somewhere, deep in the bowels of Washington, there lives someone . . .
who's paid good money -- your money and mine -- to think up acronyms like this . . . probably took the job after realizing his/her career as a tv comedy writer was going nowhere . . .

3. I didn't know that
I'm sure it's a coinky-dink that the acronym ended up as USA PATRIOT. Our great leader wouldn't try to bullshit us with a veener of patriotism, would he?

9. Not everyone has read Michael Moore.
Just like not everyone was read Palast on the 2000 election.
