SERIOUS QUESTION: Is Bush a Classic Megalomaniac
Edited on Tue Apr-13-04 09:45 AM by ulTRAX
Is Bush is not also a classic megalomaniac? A reportedly devote Christian Fundamentalist, he actually believes "God" made him president. It seems megalomania is out of fashion. Today it's called a Narcissistic Personality Disorder

I ask NOT because we're qualified to render a professional judgement... nor do I want any one line responses... "ya, of course he is". I'm not asking this as a personal insult or a political smear. I'm asking because citizens in a "democracy" (sic) need to understand the personalities of their leaders. In this regard, I personally have an immense distrust in people who are convinced without evidence there's a God and s/he's chosen THEM to be an instrument of his/her will.

The following is a brief summary of the symptoms of Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Source: http://www.psychologynet.org/npd.html How many apply to Bush?

"A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following:

1. has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements)
2. is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
3. believes that he or she is "special" and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions)
4. requires excessive admiration
5. has a sense of entitlement, i.e., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations
6. is interpersonally exploitative, i.e., takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends
7. lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others
8. is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him or her
9. shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes "

5. The Madness of King George
I don't have a professional opinion to contribute, but I have thought several time in the last couple of weeks that he is "not right in the head".

Like George Costanza did once, Bush needs a "do the opposite" day. Just do the opposite of everything he thinks he should do.

When he snapped at the reporter, "Who you talkin' to?", hemmed and hawed through his circular logic on Sunday's Easter photo-op, failed to address the crisis in Fallujah for almost a week, and took yet another vacation to the ranch, I started to see that he isn't even able to act in his own best interests.

It sure sounds like it could be Narcissistic Personality Disorder to me.

Before now, I saw him more as just an evil republican doofus jerk, but now I think he may actually be sick. He's even more dangerous now.

6. Another Opinion
Courtesy of the San Francisco Chronicle November 14, 2001, Nobel Peace Prize-winner Oscar Arias Sanchez, former president of Costa Rica, was quoted as saying that George W. Bush was "the dumbest president you ever had" and in his opinion needed to be replaced. I agree.

7. he's more of a prick than a megalomaniac
I think he's actually a pretty ordinary everyday asshole. He comes off weird because he's in a job that's way too big for him.

9. Just remember, he is only a figurehead...
Edited on Tue Apr-13-04 10:45 AM by higher class
he was selected for some of the characteristics you list...also consider that he may have also been brain washed by his handlers to stand up to the allusion.

By brain washed, I mean serious mind control.

Because it's either that or he is the most incredibly arrogant, pompous, and hypocritical human placed into a position of leadership in the history of this country or many.

And when he is out of there, his handlers will continue to advance their agenda. They may pick a brain next time - someone who knows what's going on in the world other than screwing your enemies - but it will be the same imperialistic, fascist, colonial, people and earth resources takeover agenda.

Concentrate on his handlers and who they are and how they operate.

He is a grand error - you know it. we know it...we need to focus on the handlers.
