Good god, has anyone been to the Halliburton website?
I had to go there on work-related business. Talk about defensive. Right up front there's a big list of puff-pieces from the media about how great Halliburton is like -

03/19/04 USA TODAY - Halliburton CEO says firm saves money for Pentagon

01/06/04 The Wall Street Journal - Army Corps Clears Halliburton In Flap Over Fuel Pricing in Iraq

11/11/03 The New York Times - Cynics Without A Cause

11/06/03 The Washington Post - No 'Cronyism' In Iraq

10/17/03 The Wall Street Journal - Halliburton's Mission

It just screams 'WE'RE NOT EVIL! PLEASE DON'T SAY WE'RE EVIL! WE'RE REALLY NOT. OK, SOMETIMES. BUT ONLY SOMETIMES. OH, OK, IT'S MOST OF THE TIME.

2. They have a section where you can send messages of support
to Halliburton employees in Iraq. I had to leave the site immediately before I did something very, very bad.

3. You KNOW those things are piped directly to the DoJ
But then again, you are in Canada, which would make retrieving you for transport to Guantanamo quite difficult.

9. Actually, I think they're feeding him BFEE propoganda.
I was round at his place at the weekend, and he has a signed copy of David Frum's The Right Man - The Unexpected Presidency of George Bush (or whatever). I wonder if he got it for free.

13. Probably. My dad has an autographed copy of an Ollie North book.
Got it for free at a seminar Shell held. Ollie was the speaker. He hates North. I imagine your relative attended something where Davey Frum spoke. That man is a disgrace to Canada.

17. I've never discussed politics with him, so he could be reading it
for laughs. His son subscribes to Adbusters, so it could even be the son reading it ironically. Or they just leave it around to scare the hell out of lefties like me.

15. The inside skinny is that most of the Halliburton workers in Iraq
are desperate to get the hell out by hook or by crook.

Your new sig pic -- excellent choice, Lord Byron. I just picked up "Isn't Anything" on 180-gram vinyl. *drools*

18. It's an album cover. My Bloody Valentine - 'Loveless'
An extraordinary psychedelic masterpiece. It's a blurred photo of a guitar (a Fender Jaguar, I think).

21. I think it's a Fender Jazzmaster
Fender, to the best of my knowledge, has NOT directly profited from the war in Iraq, BTW. (Just trying to bring this back around to Halliburton, somehow.)

It just makes people suspicious.
