Pat Buchanan on Scarborough and Catholics
Did anyone see the Catholics arguing about Kerry's abortion stance on Scarborough last night? The guy (I forget his name) was in all-out attack mode on Kerry. He was screaming and ranting so much I thought he'd have a stroke but his gist was:

Kerry never got an anullment for his first marriage.

Kerry has voted against the church's wishes when it comes to abortion.

Kerry (and the lady supporting him) should be denied communion, excommunicated, and, I think he meant this when he said it--burned at the stake.

He said "he's toast," "we're gonna get him," and "he's stupid" about Kerry.

I was touched by the Christian warmth emanating from this kind soul. I assume the guy supports Bush, but what about the Death Penalty, the attack on Iraq, the unabashed greed, etc?

These people make me :puke:

1. What Catholics?
I know the pope opposed the war and is a big opponent of the death penalty. BTW we will win Catholics this year for sure, now not sure about white catholics, Bush won those but still white catholics are more democratic than protestants.

2. Kerry's duty as a Senator
Is to the people of Massachusetts, not the Roman Catholic Church. If the Catholic Church wants to try to threaten elected officials into toeing the church line politically, they should have their tax exempt status revoked.

Separation of church and state fellas. John Kerry is first and foremost a US Senator.

3. Good to know that the crazies on the right have revived the mentality
of the inquisition - torture and burning at the stake (at least in rhetoric) and all. Oh, ducky.

4. Being a recovering Catholic with a brother who is a priest,
I know that there is a great difference between the American Church and the rest of the Church. There really is no formal American Church but my brother calls it that. Many if not most Catholics do not accept all of the Churches teachings or dogmas etc.

Only the right wing freeper types buy into Kerry not being a perfect Catholic. Most Catholics are just like him so they identify with him.

8. Bingo!
The Church jumped the shark with American Catholics with the ban on birth control. Most mainstream Catholics just kinda ignore Rome and go about being Catholic in their own way.
