I've wondered about this since 9/11/01. Freeh, a Repub, should have been very happy serving under one of his own, especially after an acrimonious relationship with President Clinton. Instead, he abruptly resigns just a few months after *'s felonious inauguration. The spin was that he had kids in college and didn't make enough money, bla bla bla, in government to pay their tuitions. But the fact is that he knew these kids were going to college long before he quit the FBI. If that were his only motive he would never have been in his governmental job, but would have been working in the corporate sector to make sure he had the dough to get them through school.

I always thought it didn't add up, but after 9/11 I really wondered. Now, I'm starting to think that he knew what many, including * knew, about an imminent attack. Yes, he should have alerted somebody, but WHO?, about the plot. Other than that, and maybe he tried (????), the only recourse was to quit.

:tinfoilhat: anybody?

2. And who could he turn to if he suspected, or, worse KNEW?
He and his family would have been on the WH hit list big time.

3. Could also be Bushco asked him to resign in order
to keep things messy at the FBI. Easier to LIHOP with lots of personnel changes.

4. I don't know what, but something smells, and always has,
about his resignation. One plus one does not equal three.
