Maybe this press confrence isn't what we think...

Cheney is gone. Things aren't going well. Maybe he's lost it and told everyone to to go hell (he's the president, he can do it if he's mad enough). Now he's going to be the cowboy CEO president.

5. Seriously Bush is in trouble

Why else would he consent to a REAL press conference?? He hates them, because he needs a script. He's had three real press conferences since he took office. His numbers look bad. Iraq is turning into a real mess, the economy is still in the toilet, the 9/11 commission is not going as Bush had planned, the post-9/11 patriotic stuppor is wearing off, networks have started showing caskets of American soldiers returning from Iraq, hostages are being taken (remember what that did to Carter). Finally, after two and a half years of the press glossing over the truth in the guise of patriotism, real questions are being asked, and the answers suck.

6. Has he had a real one?

I'm not sure which one of the three that it was, but I specifically remember him looking down and reading the name of each prescreened "journalist" as he would call on them in a prescribed order. Even he joked about it as it was going along. Pathetic...

7. He's never had a real press conference

except for the time he stumbled out of the White House helicopter, drunk, with Blair by his side. He was so excruciatingly embarassing, it'd be a miracle if they ever let him do another unscripted appearance.

I expect tonight will be the usual boilerplate "stay the course" crap. It's what Cheney is currently spewing in Asia.
