8. I'm taping and flipping between channels
only on CSPAN (which has a much closer and softer shot) does the tie look acceptable

on CBS and FOX the tie screams!

The pattern of the tie is tight enough that it's creating interference patterns with the piixels of the tv tube.

A few want to "move away" from the tie. Most can't figure out whether it's a polka dot or a pinstripe.
