I'm so depressed
I really thought that was it. Over. The WORST press conference in the history of press conferences. Didn't answer a SINGLE question. Admitted he was "not quick enough" to think of ONE FUCKING thing he did wrong.

But the media is spinning it the other way and I just don't understand why they aren't focusing on the Q & A. The questions were GOOD and even if they were scripted he STILL COULDN'T ANSWER THEM. NOT ONE.

I fear the media will, once again, hand him the election.

WHAT CAN WE DO?

He always makes me feel better--he's a really, really good antidote to the * madness.

Of course, they'll probably take him out before long. The man has way more guts than sense, bless his heart.

But in the meantime--sanity, brilliance, and he ain't too hard on the eyes, either.

37. Not a bad idea
Did anyone catch the "security agreement" that we'll have with the post-June 30 "soverign" Iraq? Exactly what Chalmers Johnson is talking about in Sorrows of Empire. Recently Johnson recommended that everyone "plan their out now", get a second passport if possible, and buy that condo in Vancouver. We're really going to need it.

(Did anyone catch his glee when mentioning MI5! Geezus f**king chr*st!)

16. Same thing we've been doing to get this far.
Bypass the media. Show your friends the articles and stuff that'll inevitably be written tonight and tommorow about his bad performance during the q-and-a. I've had a little email list going for awhile that I use to kind of re-focus the media on important stuff. You'll find plenty here to pass around. Over the past year, I've learned that you basically have to change stuff yourself, you can't depend on the media to lead - it may follow the grassroots later, but if you know what's going on, really the only person you can rely on spreading it is you.

23. I know what you mean. That was the most pathetic showing of a
so called president. I don't usually watch when he is on the tube but I said I would this time since he hardly ever give those press...news conferences. I switched to CSPAN right after but I did hear some of the pundits after that and only a few were truthful, like David Gregory and Andrea Mitchell. It's like the others don't want to admit that this man is a DUMBASS.

Don't despair friend
And don't get caught up in the spin. Of course they're going to try spinning this as positively as they can. But the public was watching, and word spreads, and the belief of one's eye's and ears still outways the jabbering coming from TV or radio drones.

Frankly, I think that Bush has just lost the election, and further, I believe he also has come to that realization. Remember during the Q&A, he spoke on three seperate occasions of his legacy. That's telling, that's like the kiss of death in politics. Politicians don't speaking of legacy, in an election year, unless they think there's a serious chance of going down.

32. He's not your average politician either, though
He only answers scripted questions, he actually named the axis of evil to the world according to his administration's perceptions, and he constantly lies against solid facts, he hasn't said he's sorry......to me he acts like some fanatical leader who has delusions of grandeur and projects everything that pertains to his own administration onto another group! These things are not normal.

36. I thought it was more of a Nixon/Watergate moment
You know, where Nixon was desperately babbling "I'm not a crook"? Bush is to witless to do the unscripted dance on live TV, much less lie without stuttering. Nixon could at least try put a bold front up, at least until there was no hope left.

Bush just sealed his fate, barring cheating, stealing or martial law, he is going down this fall.

Hubby and I watched it and screamed at the TV for every lie he told

We were gleeful when he said "I wished you would h ave told me that question earlier" or something similar, implying that all the questions were previously known, scanned and replies to the same already written.

He stammered and stuttered over the question that he had no previous knowledge of and that, to us, was the true Bush.

What kind of a country is this that press conferences with the president are scripted?

That is the most shameful thing of all.

41. I won't give up, though
I think we need to find someone who can (a) generate a lot of press (b) talk plainly, honestly and forcefully and (c) tell the truth and pose the questions that need to be asked and answered.

It would have been *nice* if our candidate could have been that person, but maybe it's best that it be someone else. Someone above the fray of politics. Someone everyone respects.

Hey, is Oprah a Dem?

40. I'm depressed too, but I'll be damned if I'm giving up.
This was a travesty. If you listened closely, the Chimp pretty much admitted that he had fore-knowledge of the threat, even as he denied it. He also looked worn out (shades of Nixon in the debates with JFK), and spoke with his usual Forrest Gump on crack eloquence. Still, even the PBS commentary applauded his ability to "speak to the common person, and not 'elites'". It was pretty depressing, especially after Ashcroft's lame-brained hypocritical partisan hack performance before the 9-11 commission today.

You know what this southern Christian Democrat is going to do about it? Well, first, I'm going to have a beer and vent a little in the forums. Then I might even have sex. But come tomorrow, I'm going to check my budget, send some cash to the DNC, and start writing editorials and emailing/calling local media (and where I live, that can get you lynched ;) ). To quote ole Georgie boy I'm gonna "stay the course", and "fight for liberty and freedom."

I'm not rolling over for this shi-----ooops PR effort.

Sic 'em ya'll!
