Fareed Zakaria needs his own show.
Edited on Tue Apr-13-04 10:18 PM by Paragon
Not another nightly talking-head gabfest, but some kind of weekly magazine on foreign affairs or something would be outstanding for him.

I'm sure some knee-jerks will whine about his Republican past, but I prefer his level-headed, intelligent take on what's really going on. He's a main reason why I watch ABC Nightly News, This Week on Sundays, and subscribe to Newsweek.

Flame on, if you must - but I'm right. ;-)

7. He was wrong about Iraq, but I like him quite a bit.
If he's conservative, then frankly he's my kind of conservative. Real smart guy, and has good insights. Even when I disagree with him, I think he's worth listening to.

13. He used to be a "regular" on Stephanoplis' Sunday Show til they canned
having a panel. He's one of the best folks out there on the ME. He has a new book out. It's probably a great read.

14. A beautiful mind made for our complicated times

THE LOS ANGELES TIMES

By David Shaw

He's the new glamour boy of the national media. Bestselling author. Columnist for Newsweek magazine. Editor of Newsweek International. Regular guest on ABC's "This Week with George Stephanopoulos." New York magazine last month described him as "silky and unflappable," "dimple-chinned, with expressive eyebrows" and said he could be both "the Indian incarnation of Cary Grant" and "the first Muslim secretary of State."

There's only one problem with this panting adulation.

"I'm not really all that interesting," says Fareed Zakaria. "I'm not rich. I'm not that famous. I'm not that glamorous. I have two kids under the age of 4, and when I'm not working, I'm hanging out with my family. When I read about myself, I say, 'Sounds like a fascinating guy. I'd love to know him.' But it isn't quite me."

Zakaria's seeming modesty is part of his charm. But it isn't his charm, his good looks or his journalistic ubiquity that have made him a media star, still eight months shy of his 40th birthday.

It's his mind...

16. Absolutely he's great. I'd rather have him be secretary of state
but short of that he needs more broad exposure. I read all his columns on his website.

20. Holbrooke is a better choice. He just seems like the kind
of guy you want on your side. Looks tough as hell.

Fareed has yet to prove himself in gov't service: he can't be trusted wtih a Cabinet level position yet, just because he is an impressed pundit and thinker.
