Charlie Rose could be good tonight. Anyone seen it yet?
LIVE COVERAGE OF PRESIDENT BUSH’S
PRIME TIME PRESS CONFERENCE with
EVAN THOMAS, Newsweek
DAVID GERGEN, JFK School of Government
KENNETH DUBERSTEIN,
Former Chief of Staff for Ronald Reagan
ADAM NAGOURNEY, The New York Times
RONALD BROWNSTEIN, The Los Angeles Times
DAVID BROOKS, The New York Times

Live coverage - Rose has been asking tough questions of his guests. I think he's sickened at what is happening in Iraq. He's a serious guy. I remember on the run-up to war and in the aftermath he had various neocon guys on...and he took them seriously - now I think he's pissed about that...I think he may feel he was conned, lied to, whatever...just like the rest of us....

1. it will mostly suck
duberstein brough you CLARENCE THOMAS, for starters

Brownstain, as he's called by those in the know

Evan Thomas.......Bush shill in the past, but Newsweek was tough on him this time......even Whorward Fineman seems to have changed

Gergen will try to appear reasonable, but will come down with pres

David Brooks is a joke of the first order.....delusional when being honest, which is not very often

Nagourney....don't know. if he's with the NYT, I'll bet he was a warwhore, like most of them during the runup

but that's just my Oped

4. He's not "as bad as they come"...he's one of the best
He's a great interviewer. He made a joke out of O'Reilly when that clown was on.

He gets awesome guests. He is serious. Sean Penn likes him, and has done his show several times.

6. David Gergen
had been pretty tough on Bush for the past year, as for the rest of them, couldnt care less, especially Brooks, what a friggin tool that one is. I like Charlie Rose's show alot, not so much Charlie, he talks way too damn much and always when he has someone good on, STFU Charlie, let them answer your questions!!!!!

5. I haven't seen one good Charlie Rose.
The guests always seem to suck, so I typically don't watch.

7. the guests always suck?
what the hell are you people smoking?

Last night he had Chris Rock on, and it was a great serious interview...

He's had on Sean Penn lots of times, Tim Robbins...he gets the best in all the fields...

8. Ok, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have used "always" that is a bit too harsh.
They just suck most of the time.

The last time I saw it Jack Welsh(I think that is his name) was on, him and some other corporate fuck. Anyways, Rose just kissed their ass the whole time. It was pretty bad.

9. exactly.....don't even mention all the times he's blown his buddy
Kissinger

he NEVER, ever gets contentious with the likes of Perle, or any of those PNAC swine

he very often goes after libs

did you see him with Clarke?

he was better than usual, but wasted a lot of time on pug talking points, re: credibility

15. That's exactly the problem I have with him
Rose is becoming like a lot of other talk shows, with their emphasis on celebrity. Granted, Robbins and Penn are politically aware. But most times I don't care what celebrities have to say, even if they have done their homework.

10. it's on now
Nagourney sez it was strange to watch dumbo reFUSE to answer question about being sorry, making mistakes, etc

Duberstein: If you say, I made mistake, it becomes a commercial for opposition. total PR perspective

Charlie actually contends with him, re: illusion of mounting body counts/vs. staying the course

Duberstein repeats himself, looking like a fool

Gergen: what's frustrating, is dumbo is impervious to questions he doesn't want to deal with. you need people who are open to new facts. Bush is NOT one of those people

11. Just tuned in ... Gergan Talking... He's good...
Bush impervious to new thoughts, reflective thought about the past, If so .. then he can't engage in tough thought about the future.

No sense of hard questions being asked at the Whitehouse...

Good points

Impervious to events - no sense of reality of what's going on, on the ground in Iraq...

13. Evan Thomas said body language is more important than anything
and he had a VERY BAD moment, when he was trying to answer the question about what he was going to do, regarding the transition

ha ha ha hah

Duberstein, for the THIRD time, mentioned that admitting ANY kind of misstep, mistake, would be commercial fodder

spoken like a TRUE PR whore to the max

14. Holy UN, Batman!
That final exchange was mind-blowing...I had no idea what the scandal about the UN was all about. Who was that woman? At had my back turned and was listening while I drew cartoons. It was pretty hard hitting stuff, and if what she said is even halfway true, my head may explode...it's been an amazing night of teevee!
