After that press conference I KNOW we're living in the twilight zone
I watched Bush spout out his usual platitudes in a 20 minute speech and then babble nonsense in a supposed question and answer session with the reporters...Most of the reporters sat with expressions of disbelief on their faces...You could feel the tension through the TV screen...After the "press conference" was over I saw some of the same reporters who asked questions he didn't answer, on their respective stations talking about it all as if he had done an admirable job.....AM I CRAZY?....Did I imagine all this?....It's bizarre.

1. John "Elvis" King of CNN said he did a good job
rebutting Dem charges of "another Vietnam", even though his question was completely skirted. Yu didn't imagine it. The guy that asked why bush* and crashcart demanded to appear together (and was blown off)...did anyone catch who he was or where he works?

2. Your not crazy
You did not imagine all this and you are not crazy.
All I can say is that I had the same reaction.
I was amazed at the positive feedback he recieved
from the media during the last State of the Union
address and his meet the press interview. Eventually
both of those events were seen as flops and did not help
the Shrub. I would give it some time. I objectively watched
this press conference and it was painful to watch.

3. I had the same feeling watching it.
Like I was acting in a movie because none of the speech or analysis jibed with the reality of the situation. Even my husband who is new to politics said the same thing: an alternate reality. Like everyone is either heavily drugged or programmed to act certain ways.

I think most of the questions seemed hard-hitting, but were really just to say "We answered that question at the press conference." At least ABC was talking about him being defensive and not answering any questions as to his regrets or guilt. Also, the media are still showing lemming-like behavior. "Did he do a good job? What the hell am I supposed to think?" consensus type thing. I didn't see the reporters after the "press conference"; so I'm speculating, of course.

4. None of those questions should have been unexpected.
Yet, he seemed totally unprepared, surprised, that they'd be asked. I was hoping someone would ask him why we didn't hit Saudi Arabia after 9/11 and why did he OK the OBl family to leave. Now that would have been interesting.
