"The Entity." "My Government." "Changing the World." & that fucking tie!
check out the comments on George II's SOLO Press Conference:

http://atrios.blogspot.com/

Don't be dismayed by the media's whoring for Dubya tonight. That Press Conference was a nightmare. It will not provide any bump.

People want answers. He provided none.

6. Okay, I thought you were kidding
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The legacy that our troops are going to leave behind is a legacy of lasting importance, as far as I'm concerned. It's a legacy that really is based upon our deep belief that people want to be free and that free societies are peaceful societies.
Some of the debate really centers around the fact that people don't believe Iraq can be free; that if you're Muslim, or perhaps brown-skinned, you can't be self-governing or free. I'd strongly disagree with that.
I reject that. Because I believe that freedom is the deepest need of every human soul, and if given a chance, the Iraqi people will be not only self-governing, but a stable and free society.
15. Oh, but he'd strongly disagree, see; WE'RE the racists, he sez, because...
being against the war in Iraq means being against Iraqi, and by extension all brown-skinned-peoples', self-determination. At least, I think that's what the talking point was. Add one to the Orwellian lexicon:
War is Peace
Freedom is Slavery
Occupation is Self-Determination
You-all are the Anti-Brown-Skinned-People Racists, Not Me
5. The "Tie" was NOT a mistake-
It was some sort of signal to the Fundies-
I am researching the possible meanings right now-
the most likely message is in Isaiah 61, the SAME
passage he quoted from the boat...
Isaiah 61 V:10
""For he has clothed me with garments of salvation
and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness,"
References to "jewels" which the tie certainly resembled
at times tonight.
I am CERTAIN the tie was not a random accident!
What I am not sure of is what "sign" it was intended to convey.
Still looking.
Please don't think me insane- I REFUSE to believe that
the tie was simply a wardrobe mistake- NO way.
8. That would be too simple-
Edited on Wed Apr-14-04 01:19 AM by BeHereNow
NOTHING these people do is by chance-
and CERTAINLY not the pResidents appearance
and wardrobe for a broadcast seen world wide-
No WAY- the tie was intentional and more code to
the fundies- I am certain.
Call me crazy if you want, but I refuse to believe
it was a stupid accident.
EVERYTHING is too orchestrated and planned out by the
neo con cabal and there is NO doubt in my mind
that the tie was some sort of a "signal" to the fundies-
as were parts of his speech.
13. the tie
it was annoying wasn't it?
did you notice that when he stood to the right of the microphone the stripes moved from lower left to upper right, and when he stood to the left of the microphone the stripes moved from lower right to the upper left?
my partner quipped: "Look honey, even his tie is flip-flopping..."
18. No, the tie was a moronic error by his prep people . . .
Certain tie patterns and materials cause that effect on camera, I've seen it many times in the past.
I used to work with an attorney who did a TV show on local access TV about estate planning and such. . . we had to smack him all the time to get him to stop wearing the flashy loud ties of shiny material because they caused a refractive effect on camera.
Little Georgies prep people screwed up.
It certainly is a TV camera's worst nightmare. As for any biblical refererence, who knows?
20. You'll never convince me it was a
"mistake." Anyone working in TV down to the lowliest bit player KNOWS there are certain patterns that are big time camera "no-nos." If you manage to get in front of a camera with an offending pattern, at the first sign of the cameraman's knit brow, there are LOTS of folks with clipboards and headsets running hither, thither and yon who will set you straight POST-HASTE. The "technicolor tie" was part of the show.
9. Watching that moron struggle for every word he uttered was so painful
I ended up with a headache...Seriously....I had to take a couple of Tylenol....It is impossible that the United States of America has this excuse for a human being as your leader, but it's a fact....Sometimes I think maybe I've dreamed the last 4 years.
14. the umms, errs, and ahhs were painful
his ear mic must have been mal-functioning or his behind the scenes puppet-master was also groping for the "right words"
when asked if he would apologize, and also regarding citing something he thought was a mistake -- the long string of errs and umms made his non-answers come across as being less-than-sincere non-answers
he really blew it on those questions
17. about that tie....
it's obvious that no one "vetted" the tie
and it just occured to me that Cheney is in China -- so he wasn't around to dress up george
----and that earpeice microphone? given the looooong pauses there are two possibilites
1. the behind the scenes prompter was at a loss of words as much as bush was
or
2. there's a time-lag in transmission between DC and China when using an ear microphone
