7. No...
... when the Moonie organization bought UPI, she quit, and went to work for the Hearst News Service, as columnist, instead of a reporter.

At least, the name doesn't sound familiar at 4:30 in the morning after having been up for over 20 hours.

Nevermind... pay no attention to the person with the lame excuses.

19. Humor?
You're the same as George W. Bush--you can't admit you're wrong, and you can't admit you didn't know. Big problem in our society, these days.

Trust me, I know irony and satire when I see it, and you didn't exhibit either.

Look, my point is that you needed a little education, and you could have educated yourself with about two minutes on Google, but you chose, instead, to make a casual, uninformed remark about something of which you knew nothing, and you were informed of that.

Take this to PM if you wish to discuss it further.

3. Well You Know Bush...
He doesn't like Helen so she can forget ever getting the time of day from him. Actually you may have noticed he looked down at his papers before he called names as to who was going to ask what. I think he picked fairly friendly journalists out and called on them hoping for mercy... Of course David Gregory can forget that call next time out. :)

This was a pretty well scripted press conference. 15 questions about three or four hard ones but he avoided them like the plague anyways.

Plus I don't want to be a conspiracy theorist but was that an earpiece in his left ear? Sure was dark in there.

Doesn't matter, it didn't help him one bit in the Sammy Sosa Mistake question.

Never called on by Bush. There's an important difference.

She's been relegated to the back row by the Bushies because she embarrassed the chimp early on.

She attends, now, but is never called on.

Big difference. Big difference.

Can't see Helen willing to submit her questions in advance and be a good little propagandist. Wasn't there a story early in the Bush administration about her being demoted? I thought I read about it right around 9/11 that she was no longer Sr. White House correspondent?

21. Sh's like this carzy old Aunt now... sad really
You never know what will come out of her mouth. The last time she got a question she rambled on for about a minute. Since she no longer represents a major press syndicate or paper she is just ignored. Probably best for her and us who remember her when she was at her best.

23. OH my GOD
You ought be ashamed of yourself. This woman has been the face of the press corp for 4 decades now. During this administration, when every single other reporter has been afraid to ask a hard question, let alone, follow it up, Helen Thonas ALONE has been right there laser beaming fastballs right across the plate.

Ari Fleischer couldn't handle her, McClellan can't either. She is a firebrand where other reporters fall to the floor and expose their bellies. She is an absolute treasure and should be honored as such.

When Kerry takes office he should personally handle the first press briefing and he should stand up there at the podium and announce to the world: "I will stand here and answer questions as long as you still have any, but the FIRST person I want to hear from is.......HELEN THOMAS!!"

She "resigned" from the UPI in 2000 and now works for "The Boston Channel.com"

She represents no major news outlet and is treated exactly that way.

When she worked for the UPI she was called on first because she had seniority over other members of the major news outlets.

24. Helen Thomas is one sharp lady
Check out her column some time, and see if you don't agree. I've also heard her interviewed and she was fascinating. Just consider how much history she has witnessed firsthand.

I hope that when Kerry becomes president, that Helen is around to take the first question at his first news conference. That would be sweet.

30.  Oh be honest
You don't remember one single question she ever asked Clinton. She certainly did ask tough questions of him, as she has every other president to be in office since JFK.

PS: Use the spellcheck feature. It won't fix your syntax but but it will help. Poorly spelled posts will not help your case any.

Welcome to DU, I really do hope you manage to stay. You just might learn something, if you are so inclined.

38. Randi Rhodes was all over this today!!!! She mentioned that she's been
covering the WH for over 57 years
that she's earned respect for asking the hard questions and what does that say about this WH that they bar her from asking questions?

Then she played the clip of * saying that a government with secrets has something to hide...

She mentioned that Thomas has always been respectful and called him Mr. President.

She played the clip of * Bitching at the AP reporter for calling him SIR.

IT was nice...having her eat * alive!
