it was not true. Nobody left before the FBI cleared them and flying is allowed.....?????
I thought Dick Clarke had said that it was true during his testimony.. am I wrong.

But yes, I do recall that the Saudis were "cleared" in a very perfunctory way before leaving the U. S.

I'm not sure what the timeframe is, but I think it might be that the bin Laden family, etc. in the US were flown from spots around the US to a central point (D.C.?) before the air travel ban was lifted, but they might not have left the country until after the ban was lifted. Not sure though...

Clarke writes that the planes were cleared to fly after all flights were grounded and that the clearances came "from the highest levels of govt."...

The question is: Who cleared the flights?
