Bush stunk last night? But not according to Tweety
I was scratching my head last night after the speech, when Tweety was saying Bush did a good job. I thought I was in the twilight zone. But thank goodness after turning to ABC and seeing George Steponapolous(sp)he thought Bush stunk. Then my heart was warmed when Ted Kopple thought it stunk and this morning listening to Imus and Frank Rich they thought it stunk, Dana Milbank thought it stunk, hell even Lisa Myers was scratching her head. The NY Times thought it stunk, the Boston Globe thought it stunk, so in conclusion my beleif was confirmed "Bush stunk".

2. I think Tweety was trying to find the good points in Bush's speech
even though his prepared statement and his handling of questions later on gave no absolutely no specifics on anything what so ever and that's on the very few questions he actually didn't evade answering completely. I see the Republicans on TV today actually doing damage control and attempting to make the speech something it was obviously not. I don't know what the points they were trying to convey last night were, but after last night I really do understand why they keep Bush from having these type of so called press conferences.

8. Tweety is MSNBC's Chris Matthews...
... so nicknamed (by his staffers, rumor has it) because his hair is dyed such an improbable yellow.

5. Chris Matthew's litmus test is a very small demographic.
I think he's from a white, blue-collar background from the North-East. Otherwise known as, "Men in Pubs."

15. Yep.
And if you're reading between the lines, you'd be right. There's a cognitive dissonance here which needs to be examined. People like Lieberman and Matthews, who call themselves Democratic, but are right of moderate, have to be influenced by something. They may not come from the same demographic, mind you, but they are being affected by regional influences which are pushing them to the right. The only thing that I can say without question is, that those influences ARE regional and don't reflect the larger political arena.

18. I believe that might be where he veered right.
The whole Reagan revolution was enabled by Tip. The Democrats resisted Jimmy Carter but there arms were easily twisted by RR.

6. Fienman did something good though
He picked up on Dubya's comment about people opposing the administration's policy giving aid and comfort to the emeny. Fienman was pissed. He didn't like that at all and said so quite forcefully.

My impression of Tweety was that he was saying how Bush's "resolve" would resonate well but he did point out that Bush gave no indications of having a plan in Iraq. (That was pretty early on in the coverage.)

7. This morning Tweety says Clinton would be apologizing to Africa for
Edited on Wed Apr-14-04 08:31 AM by KoKo01
Slaves, apologizing all over the world. This guy (Bush) doesn't apologize he doesn't "need to get in touch with his feminine side, or lie on an analyst's couch to tell us what he thinks."

He then went on about how the shrub is manly and typical "Matthews in Bush's crotch" kind of crap.

Tearing Clinton down to raise up the Chimp is getting old and stale and Matthews needs to get some better copy, because he's looking ridiculous with these comments about Bush's "manliness." :puke:

12. Curveball needs some time on the couch.
His obsession with manliness and gay marriage makes it seem he has real issues he needs to resolve within himself.

10. Tweety gets paid under the table from the GOP....
so does Novak. A guy on PBS (with Jim Lehrer) kept pointing out how bush was stunning, outstanding, at not answering any of the questions. That was the whole goal of the press conference. Exactly how Sleeza played her role during the hearings. When Matthews says bush was great, he means bush lied and denied information to the American people. Followed Rove's script.
