AL Qaida Attacks and Thwarted Attacks
MSNBC.com has a timeline of Al-Qaida attacks and thwarted attacks. What is most interesting is to look at the number of attempted attacks by Al-Qaida between 1993-2000, the Clinton Years and the years since Bush has been in office. Most Al-Qaida attacks from 1993-2000 were thwarted -- even though the Clinton Administration was not paying attention and since Bush has taken office there have been more successes than thwarts (in 2003 we failed to stop one of the 4 attacks). If this map is accurate, and I believe it is, I'll take Clinton's "inactivity" to shrubbies proactive stance anyday.

1. That's pretty damning, especially considering one of the "reds" under...
... Clinton is mistakenly labelled as such (it was actually a foiled plot; LAX Millenium attack).

Also, the death rate from Al Qaeda has doubled, NOT EVEN adding in the 2750 deaths caused by the 9-11 attacks.

606 deaths on Clinton's anti-terror watch (8yrs).
528 non-9/11 deaths on Bush's anti-terror watch (3yrs, 2mos); +2750 on 9/11

Clinton: 13 of 25 attempts foiled.
Bush: 2 of 19 folied.

(Note that # of attacks has also about doubled under Bush)

I realize that these are not all the responsibility of Clinton or Bush themselves, and many are overseas and not even attacking U.S. interests. But if this is an indicator of how Bush's "War on Terror" is going, it doesn't bode well.

2. Oh, and the only 2 "thwarted" attacks during Bush's term were...
1) Richard Reid's failed shoe-bomb plot; thwarted on the plane by crew and passengers.

2) Failed assassination attempt on Hamid Karzai ("thwarted b/c the guy didn't get Karzai).

No advance knowledge even of the plots by the U.S. or any of our allies.

We're batting 0.000. Not good.

Oh yeah, but we're killing a lot of terrorists over in Iraq every day, right? (or is that "creating"?)
