I was lost but now I'm found
I've got something to admit, it's a deep dark secret that I keep hidden especially on this bored. At the beginning of the invasion of Iraq I was on Bush's side (doesn't mean I liked the guy though). I thought they had made a good argument about the the WMD, and the Al-Quaeda.

I feel so stupid for it now. In hind site it was all so obvious. Their data was faulty- there are no weapons, there is no connection, there is no oil revenue to pay for the war.

My support didn't last very long- especially after all their claims being proved wrong one after another.

I was lost but now I'm found. Thanks for the help in showing me the way.

1. We never expect presidents...
...to so brazenly lie about something so important: war and sending Americans to die.

4. Right now on Air America, Franken and Jonathan Alter are both saying
pretty much the same thing that you are, that they supported the war at first because they believed Powell. A lot of people had different opinions on what could have been done with Iraq, but Bush lied to everyone about it, I think because they were planning to go in there all along, no matter what.

5. You're in a Very Large Group
and not every one has come to the same conclusion.

It's an awful realization when you discover that the picture presented by the media and political establishment has no relationship to what's actually going on. Not to mention the way history is presented.

For me, it was an extremely disorienting experience, but once I had a taste of it I wanted to find out what else I thought I knew was a distortion. Especially the parts of American history that tend to get glossed over, like the Phillipines or the War of 1812. James Loewen, Howard Zinn, and Noam Chomsky were powerful correctives.
