Lynne CHEENEE's Un-reissued Book Quoted in Mainstream Gossip

I'D never read this anywhere. It was sent to me. 365Gay.com Newscenter says Penguin was reissuing a novel by Vice President Dick Cheney's wife, Lynne, which featured lesbian love scenes. It is now not being reissued. Although her attorney, Robert Barnett, said there was no threat of legal action, the company pulled the book.

"Sisters" (1981) contains "heaving bosoms, female characters who are proto-feminists and . . . sex with multiple partners - and a juicy lesbian subplot." Per one passage: "Let us go away together, away from the anger and imperatives of men. There will be only the two of us, and we shall linger through long afternoons of sweet retirement. In the evenings I shall read to you while you work your cross-stitch in the firelight. And then we shall go to bed, our bed, my dearest girl."

Beth Shapiro of the 365Gay.com Newscenter says same-sex promiscuity "represents the antithesis of the Bush-Cheney re-election campaign." Presumably killing it is to avoid conflict with the extreme right.
