So is the WH lying, or is Tenet lying?
Pick one.

White House Rebuttal to Clarke Interview

THE WHITE HOUSE

Office of the Press Secretary

March 21, 2004

<snip>

The Facts:

· In addition, unlike President Clinton, President Bush met every morning with his Director of Central Intelligence, George Tenet, for an intelligence briefing. Secretary Card, Dr. Rice, and the Vice President sat in on the briefings. The threat posed by al Qaeda and the need for a response was discussed regularly at these high-level meetings, as well as in frequent, regular discussions between Dr. Rice and Tenet.

Tenet did not see Bush in Aug. 2001

April 14, 2004

WASHINGTON, April 14 (UPI) -- CIA Director George Tenet told the Sept. 11 commission he did not see President Bush once in August 2001, the month before the massive terror attacks.

"In this time period I'm not talking to him, no," Tenet said in response to questions from Commissioner Tim Roemer.

1. Both!
Oh, you meant in this particular instance.

The White House is lying, of course. But it's not really a lie, because when they said "every single morning" that implied "every single working morning", not the mornings he was on vacation.

2. Georgie was on vacation August 2001
Unless Tenet was *ahem* clearing brush (a euphemism for hittin' the hooch?) with Georgie in Crawford, the statement makes sense.

4. Clearing brush in West Texas in August?
That's a suicide attempt. It's just too damn hot.

7. No it doesn't -- it says "every single morning."
It doesn't say "every morning that Dubya wasn't fiddling while America burned," nor even "every morning Dubya wasn't on extended vacation." Does Dubya not get briefings when on vacation? If not, then he gets briefings, what, about half of the time?

9. I presume that there is some kinda video-conferencing in Crawford
So yes, there would be opportunities for briefings from folks in DC.

So when Tenet says he "did not see President Bush once in August 2001" it could mean one of two things: he is being disingenuous, or he is telling the truth and the Press Secretary is lying.

Now: what do YOU think?

5. Well, there you go.
When does impeachment start?

Is it any wonder why Bush was fumbling and previcating like he did when asked about this last night? Seems this is a black and white offense. Someone is lying. My money is on Bush.

I have to think Tenet, who has taken so much abuse and been the fall guy on 9/11 and the Iraq War has finally gotten his moment of payback by a singular statement of truth.

6. There's a big difference between
saying you meet with someone on a daily basis, which Bu$h has claimed on numereous occasions and not meeting with them at all for at least one whole month, if not more. Too bad Tenet doesn't wear blue dresses, we might have a case for impeachment.

8. The Imperials are lying
That's like asking who's more truthful: The Soviet Union or (blank)

In almost all cases, the answer is ALWAYS (blank).

The Busheviks, being Soviets at heart, have fallen to that sasme level of credibility.

10. And did Condi lie under oath about these 'almost' daily briefings

Transcript of Rice's 9/11 commission statement

Thursday, April 8, 2004

At the beginning of the administration, President Bush revived the practice of meeting with the director of central intelligence almost every day in the Oval Office -- meetings which I attended, along with the vice president and the chief of staff. At these meetings, the president received up-to-date intelligence and asked questions of his most senior intelligence officials.

From January 20 through September 10, the president received at these daily meetings more than 40 briefing items on al Qaeda, and 13 of these were in response to questions he or his top advisers had posed. In addition to seeing DCI Tenet almost every morning, I generally spoke by telephone every morning at 7:15 with Secretaries Powell and Rumsfeld. I also met and spoke regularly with the DCI about al Qaeda and terrorism.
