Tune in Now!!

Arthur Liu of Multicultural Media is the problem. He's double-dipping in LA. Charging AA and someone else for the same broadcast time.

edit: correct spelling of Liu

10. sooo, AAR is withholding checks to Lou until he settles the double-dipping
which he apparently doesn't want to do, instead he is playing "harball"...kicking them off the air.

12. Yep
Basically they want the court, besides the TRO, to force Liu to uphold their agreement.

Heh. CC just told Randi she could take Drudge in a dark alley. ;-)

8. Saying they were charged for airtime while someone else was, too.
And they're in court over the conflict now to resolve the dispute and get a court order to get a temporary restraining order to resume broadcast while the pay scam is sorted out.

Hearing today, papers filed, will show all checks paid and correspondance to get back on the air...

9. AA Release

Air America Radio is temporarily unable to be heard on WNTD in Chicago and KBLA in Los Angeles, but Chicago and Los Angeles listeners can still hear our broadcast on the web at airamericaradio.com and on XM Satellite Radio (channel 167).
MultiCultural Radio Broadcasting's conduct in this matter has been disgraceful. To shut off a broadcast that listeners rely on without warning and in the middle of discussions is the height of irresponsibility and a slap in the face of the media industry. In addition, it is a clear violation of their contractual obligations, and we are seeking legal remedies against them in court.

That's a great question. If the AA does pull him, wouldn't that mean AA would still be left with the same problem of being off the air in those markets?

I'm still smarting over AA losing the deal with WCHL here in Chapel Hill.

24. Some background info.....
Apparently, this was the first station owner and Chicago was the first station that AA reached an agreement with.

http://www.mediaweek.com/mediaweek/headlines/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=2067233

"To get its programming on the air, the New York-based company inked a lease agreement with Multicutlural Broadcasting, which owns WNTD-AM in Chicago, making it the first station to clear the network's programming. The company said it expects to announce additional distribution deals in the coming weeks and stations acquisitions in top markets including New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco."
