Worst.Speech.Ever.
A Vent Thread about his speech

Even for Shrub, his address last night was awful. At first, I wasn't sure what the speech was suppose to be about. Was it all suppose to be about Iraq? I thought more would be about 9/11. At least the reporters brought that tragedy up.

I'm not sure if I heard this right so I need some help. Did Shrub say he was disappointed with the troops? Did he mean our troops or other troops from the other countries who have decided to leave Iraq?

Also, I believe Shrub shouldn't apologize about 9/11 although I think Clinton would have in his sweet, southern Charm. I feel it's not the time to say his sorries.

Finally, to say he doesn't think he made any mistakes just proves what an arrogant stupid bastard he really is.

Thanks
-Will

1. I think he meant he was disappointed with the Iraqi troops
I went back and looked at the transcript to be sure.

3. Ok, good. Thanks for letting me now.
I was at a bar so it was kinda noisy. If he ever said he was disappointed in our troops he should be impeached now.

11. Worst press conference. Ever.

Although is WAS more like a speech with some softball prescripted
questions at the end. And a fumbling, mostly incoherent answers.

I was so upset (and really concentrating on the earpiece antenna
thing, just to make sure that the DU threads were accurate), that
I missed the first part of the whole "some troops are not
performing that well" riff he went into.

Also, there was another thing he said... something to the effect
that "most people don't believe that brown people can have democracy"
or something like that. I have Tivo and I should have tivo'd the
whole thing so that I could parse it all later, but I didn't do it.
I'm sure that India and most of central and south america really
appreciated that remark (unless I dreamed it or misheard).

Anyway, can someone point me to a website with the complete
transcript including the questions, who asked the question and
what affliation the questioner has? Really appreciate it.

2. Yeah, the disappointed in the troops
comment. I guess he meant the Iraqis. Maybe not. Maybe a Freudian slip. He was so nervous and out of his depth he didn't really know what he was saying. He failed to answer questions. He rambled old sound bites; even other people's sound bites. Like Condi's "Who ever would have thought terrorists would fly planes into buildings?" Well, maybe the people who received the briefings on those scenarios. Like you. In this huge country, we have this guy as our leader. This is the best we could do? A dim-witted man too stubborn to admit when he's made a mistake? This is tragic.

6. I'm glad to have DU as a forum to vent and share my frustrations about

this administration with other like-minded, sane people.

To be honest with my fellow DU'ers (and I hope this is OK to do so: I am so enraged by Chimpy, I think I'm freaking my husband and my mother out (I talked w/ her today and she's worried that I'm shortening my lifespan because I'm so passionate about my feelings about this b.s. war, how much disdain I have for Shrub). I think this forum is a good place to vent frustrations, share similar thoughts, and it's comforting to know that I'm not alone.

Have I lost it, or do others feel this way?

9. Right there with you.
Hang in there. We'll all get through this. Freedom and liberty always prevail. (Although sometimes it takes a few generations to get back to the good times, but we'll eventually get back there.)

12. I went on a complete * tirade at the gas station today
While I was pumping my $1.75 a gallon gas (up from $1.65 since Friday), I had a Clinton flashback. Same gas station I have used for the past 11 years. Anyway, as I was pumping the gas I had a deja vu of standing at the same pump when gas was $.75 a gallon under Clinton. It really pissed me off. I went in the store and just started ranting -- "Do you people all realize that we are paying $1.75 a gallon for gas because we have a damn nazi in the White House?!?! We're having to choose between buying gasoline to get to work or buying groceries, meanwhile Bush and his buddies are getting richer! Did you HEAR Bush last night?!?! He was all giggly over how much better the Iraqi oil revenues are going than expected. He's got our men and women over in Iraq getting killed over oil!!!" Thankfully the woman behind the counter is used to me. She said, "You might really consider having your husband fill up your car from now on. You get worse each time you have to do it."

Anyway, have you lost it? Only if I have to.

15. A $1.75 a gallon, where do you live?
$2.15 a gallon in California for the cheap stuff. Second question, are there any employment opportunities in your neck of the woods?

16. I remember that time well too
The lowest gas was here in CT was $.95 cents a gallon and I loved every fucking minute of it. i have a sentra and now a days $10 doesn't even get you 6 gallons I could only imagine what people are paying if they have SUV or Big Van type cars like that.

It's a shame, like you said, that all Shrub and Co. care about is money.

14. I've been very surprised
at my (formerly) moderate friends. People expect me to be outspoken about politics. But lately I've had very concilatory middle-of-the-road type friends who are absolutely frothing at the mouth angry at Bush. Their significant others are alarmed at their ferocity. Bush's smirking and fratboy shallowness is, finally, costing him. I can't help but think of Jon Stewart asking Karen Hughes, "What is it you see that the rest of the world doesn't?" (speaking of Bush). Well, must have just been a paycheck. Because there's nothing there to see. It took some people this long to discover his amazing vapidity.

even I didn't think he would do as badly as he did. What a pathetic sorry excuse for the 'leader' of the free World we have in this fraud.

7. Tell Us What You KNOW not what you FEEL
Too many individual points to bring up about last night's debacle. But I think the most infuriating aspect of this conference was the simple fact that I (and hopefully the rest of the American people) do not give a sh!t about your personal resolve, your clarity, your determination, your imperial ambitions, what you believe, your opinion, or feelings.

As the leader of the Free World, we care about what you KNOW not what you FEEL. Tell us the about the facts, the rationale, the reason, rule of law, and evidence behind your executive actions. Save all that other emotional crap for your wife and kids or your therapist. You’re an ELECTED Official (I know, know) -- not a King. So stop communicating and behaving like one!

I actually believe that Dan Qualye could have done better ... and that is saying a lot!

Worst president, ever.

10. His main mission was to divert attention from his failed warnings
to America re the THREATS. Its curtains if America looks at it from that perspective.

So by focusing in on Iraq, he takes some hits but the main guilt trip is avoided. He was diverting attention from his other failings.

Very clever trick and guess what, it worked.

17. Agree with the worst president ever
And how he needed to tell us in the conference something to make us feel like we are making progress in Iraq and on the war on terrorism. Shrub failed on both accounts.

It shocks me, well not anymore, that he is still trying to use Iraq as the savior of his failed administration. We are so bogged down with all this war stuff that we are really failing with issues on the homefront and it doesn't see like Shrub gives a shit.
How can his supporters see this and still vote for and support him?

13. Heard on Laura Ingraham that Shrub hates news conferences
And that he's bad at them and he looks uncomfortable doing them.
And this is supposed to be her dream president?
A guy who can't put together a few answers to a few questions without knowing the script?
Who can't (or won't) think on his feet?
Don't these Bush worshippers have any values that they espouse in a president? Or is it just enough that he's a breathing Republican?
